RECOVER THYSELF - THEODORE S. ALUOCH

    leads.

    Introduction

The ministry of deliverance has been bequeathed with a bad name. Many people have consternation because of failed deliverances, unsuccessful ministering, and people walking away still in bondage. These problems happen because the minister either didn’t really understand what the root of the problem was in that person’s life, or the ministry gifts were abused by those who were ministering.

Many Christians do not have a quality, working knowledge of exactly how to deal directly with demonic spirits, because many churches are still disinclined to talk about the topic and deal with the actual reality of it. Many ministers of the gospel are either too afraid or too apathetic to learn the process, because they have their own phobias of dealing with demonic spirits, and they don’t want a convoluted service with people thrashing or floundering around on their perfectly scrubbed carpets. Some pastors do not think demons really have that much of an active role in most people’s lives today. As a result, God’s flock is being torn apart by ruthless demons in their personal lives, and they are too afraid to tell anyone about it for fear they will not be believed.

Today, many churches and ministers are doing their congregants a disfavor by denying the ministry of deliverance, which is leading to defeated and spiritually deficient believers. When people come to our ministry for spiritual help, they often cite how the churches they have sat under faithfully for the last 20 years could not assist them in obtaining deliverance, which is disconcerting and very wistful. I have ministered to thousands of people in healing and deliverance for the last 24 years, by the grace of God, and it is very unfortunate and distressing to see children of God turn to their spiritual leaders for children’s bread, and then be told that they cannot be fed rightful food because the leaders don’t regard scriptural truths or accept it’s potency.

This book will maneuver you past the religious dissimulators and their style of cold, frostbite Christianity. You will find out that Jesus doesn’t play sacrosanct games. He doesn’t lodge in frosty pulpits and frigid preachers. He is the consuming fire and if you seek refuge in Him, your chains will be busted and mangled by the blaze of his presence. Demons will be seared and scorched to cinders by His fire.

    Purpose

The real purpose of ministering deliverance is to bring spiritual victory and freedom to those who are in bondage. As Jesus was sent forth to preach deliverance to the captives (Luke 4:18, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to… preach deliverance to the captives…), so we are also sent out (John 20:21, Then said Jesus to them… as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.) to do the works He did (John 14:12, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also…), and this includes casting out devils (Matthew 10:8, Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils…). Whether the people are demonized, possessed, or oppressed, etc., it is considered deliverance, because it is setting the captives free.

The deliverance minister, by the help of God, will focus on tearing down spiritual strongholds or demonic roots in a person’s life. This is often done by interviewing the person to find out entry points, or using word of knowledge (as a gift of the Holy Spirit) to find out the root(s) of the manifestation(s). Many times when a person has been abused, rejected, wounded, or hurt in some way, there is an emotional wound that needs to be healed. Demons will use these wounds and weaknesses against the person to get them to open doors so that they can enter, and they will use the wounds as leverage to continue to hold them in bondage. Oftentimes, going through inner healing is a foundational step in the overall restoration process that needs to take place in the lives of many who are seeking deliverance. Casting out the demons, or spirits, is an attempt to solve the outward manifestation(s) related to that specific demon. [For example, a deliverance minister may seek to help someone overcome anger by casting out a spirit of anger.]

God told us in His Word that His people will perish and go into captivity for having lack of knowledge. In other words, if we are not aware of the devil’s tactics, how can we know how to fight him? One of the devil’s most successful tricks, is to get people to believe that he does not exist. Many people in the western world believe that Satan is an imaginary being. They use mental health professionals to label his victims with psychiatric malady, while denying the spiritual implications of their problems.

Another lie of the devil is to get people to believe that God doesn’t love them, or can’t forgive them, and therefore God won’t heal/deliver them. Therefore, it is important to know how God sees us, what He thinks about us, and what His desires are for us. It is paramount to position ourselves to trust God with the issues of our life, so that we can receive miracles from Him. How can you trust somebody who you aren’t really sure is looking out for your best interests? How can you freely put your life in the hands of somebody whom you perceive may use you and not be trustworthy? One of the fundamental reasons why Christians today have a hard time trusting God is because they know little about Him and how He sees them, and how He has good things in mind for them! Therefore, studying about how God sees us, and getting it down into our spirits that He really does love us, desires good things for us, and cares for us, is vital to our ability to trust Him. The fact is that until we know in our hearts that God really does love us and care for us, it’s going to be difficult to believe His promises, because they just won’t make much sense! The Bible shows us how the Lord actually looks at us: The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy (Psalms 147:11).

Now the question is, How do you see your heavenly Father? Satan has many believing that their disease or affliction is something that God has given them so that they can become a better person. How many fathers out there would give their children diseases to punish them? I don’t know of any father willing to do that. How much more would our heavenly Father do that to us? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matthew 7:11). Why on earth would a loving and caring Father give His child an evil spirit to make them a better person? Do you see the terrible picture that is painted of God when we think this way? This type of thinking is all due to lack of knowledge on our behalf.

Yet some of you will say that the Father punished Jesus, His son, by making Him suffer on the cross. Yes, it is true that He allowed Jesus to take the punishment, but it was to serve a greater purpose—so that we can be free. But remember, Jesus was willing to go through with this suffering as He prayed, …not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42). The Father took away all our sicknesses and bondages and put them on Jesus so that we don’t have to bear the consequence of death. Consider the following verses:

    • 2 Corinthians 5:21, For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

    • 1 Peter 2:24, Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

    • Isaiah 53:4, Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

One of the biggest keys to Christian faith, is to get it down into our spirits that God truly loves and cares for us. I believe that God’s Word makes it clear that unless we know the height and depth of the love of God, we cannot be filled with His fullness. John 10:10 says, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jesus gives life and life abundantly: The devil only wants to kill, steal, and destroy our lives. However, God has great plans for us, and we must believe this. Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

The true purpose of deliverance ministry is to celebrate the benefits of what Jesus has done for us on the cross. True deliverance is not about the demons at all, but instead it’s about what Jesus has done for us, and helping our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ come to freedom and walk in that freedom in their lives. We hope that this book can open your eyes to spiritual realities and rouse you to truth. Also, we hope that the truth will emancipate you and lead you to the path of triumph.

    Insights into Spiritual Warfare

    CHAPTER 1

    The Two Realms-Natural vs. Spiritual

God created two realms: the natural realm and the spiritual realm. The natural realm is the physical creation - the earth and sky (1 Corinthians 15:40-41). It is where we live. It is inhabited by people, animals, and plants. The natural realm is ruled by natural laws. It is confined by time and space and all of the natural laws related to time and space (Genesis 1:3-5). Man relates to the natural realm through the soul (mind, will and emotions), and the body (five natural senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch). The natural realm is known as the flesh in the Bible (1 Peter 2:11, Galatians 6:8).

The Spiritual Realm is not a geographic realm (John 18:36). It is outside of time and space, although it can relate to and affect events in the natural realm (2 Corinthians 12:1-4; Luke 2:8-14). The spiritual realm is inhabited by invisible beings, such as angels and demons, which were created by God. These beings have different powers and positions (Daniel 10:7-14). The spiritual realm is governed by spiritual laws. The spiritual realm is a place of great spiritual warfare (Ephesians. 6:11-17). The warfare in the spiritual realm involves events and people in the natural realm (2 Kings 6:14-17).

The Bible teaches that God made humans for both realms. When God created Adam, He placed man in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15), and Adam had fellowship with God in the garden (Genesis 2:16-17; 3:8-9). Therefore, God’s original intention for man was that he would live in the garden where he would have intimate fellowship with his Creator (Genesis 3:8, John 4:23). This also shows us how the Garden of Eden was a place where there was access between the spiritual realm and the natural realm. Although it had natural trees and animals, it also had trees and animals that had a spiritual significance or nature to them (Genesis 2:16-17; 3:1). Therefore, God designed and equipped man/woman to function in the spiritual realm as well as the natural realm (Genesis 2:15).

2 Corinthians 4:18 clarifies what is natural or spiritual. Natural things are visible (we can see them with our natural eyes) and temporal (they will not last forever). Spiritual things are invisible (cannot be seen with our natural eyes) and eternal (they will last forever).

    The Three Heavens

There are three heavens found in the Bible. The first heaven is the firmament. This heaven is the closest to the Earth. Genesis 1:8 says, And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. The Bible also refers to this heaven as the sky. Matthew 16:2 reads, He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

The second heaven is known to us as space, i.e. where the sun, moon and stars are located. Deuteronomy 4:19 says, And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the Lord thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven. The plural form of heavens quite often is in reference to the stars beyond this solar system: the myriad of galaxies in the universe. Job 26:13 says, "By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked
