Living To Die - Tomi Favored

    Chapter 1

So… we’re all going to die!

    Yay!!

    Lol (laughing out loud!)

You’re probably thinking umm…what kind of sick book did I just pick up to read?!

    Haha… don’t worry, you’re in safe hands.

Allow me to have your attention for a few moments and perhaps I can explain.

Say this with me: DEATH IS BIRTH.

Repeat it again: DEATH IS BIRTH.

As we go along in this conversation, (and yes, it is a conversation, because I’m sure you’ll be talking back at certain points out loud, even if I can’t hear you, lol) I want you to keep that thought of death being birth in mind. It will be an anchor to which we hold our understanding throughout our discussion.

The bible says in Hebrews 9:27 …it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

So death is an appointment. It WILL come. As someone (I don’t know who originally) once said, death has a hundred percent success rate. And it sure does!

Literally…everyone you and I know, is going to die. Seriously.

Ok, I’m seriously not trying to be morbid here, but I want us to get comfortable acknowledging this fact. Unfortunately, like the joke about taxes, death is indeed a guarantee.

There is only one generation that won’t experience death in our dispensation. It is the generation of people fortunate enough to go to Christ via the Harpazo (Rapture) in living color. Physically caught up and snatched away from the impending disaster of earth and the devastating judgements we’ve all known for years will come upon it.

And we really don’t know when the rapture will happen because as Jesus has told us, no man knows the day nor the hour. But we seldom worry about it because for those who believe the Word of God about the rapture, we know that it affects ALL believers at the same time. In other words, there’s no fear of what our loved ones or we will be experiencing because there’s this subliminal comfort that we will be going through it together.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 14:15-18

But our other route out of this place isn’t so comforting… death. The concept alone seems scary. The idea that at an unknown point in time, a life is just snuffed out. Literally…stopped here on earth. Irrevocably done. All that’s been worked for for years…left behind. Family and friends… left behind. And the worst part is that it’s a solitary experience. No one can die death FOR or WITH you as we know it literally. (Aside from the literal death of Christ for the propitiation of our sins of course…but that’s another story so let’s not digress.)

Yeah, death is an individual thing and it’s coming. Many of us have already felt its sting when it came unannounced and took away people we deeply loved. So we all know death is coming… someday.

Insurance companies can bank on it, the healthcare industry makes money managing it, and beauty companies cash out massively trying to mask impending signs of its approach on our bodies.

    Death is sure.

But let’s go back to the beginning to understand death’s incursion and ramifications…

    Chapter 2

    Curse or blessing?

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

In my King James Bible, this section is subtitled The Punishment of Mankind and truth be told, it is an accurate description. Mankind disobeyed God, listened to the serpent (a.k.a Nachash and shining one) who deceived them… they forfeited perfection and paradise on earth, and acquired for themselves incalculable pain and consequences. A true tragedy it is. We all know it is. This is why we cry when someone we love dies. We know, somewhere deep inside, that death was not originally meant to be. Something in the heart of every man craves eternal life and immortality to be honest. Death is a negative side effect in our world. It is a consequence of sin and was not God’s desire for us. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9b

So how can we see death any differently
