About this ebook
The Tao: Mankind's Future? is a work describing how the philosophy of the Tao is the most relevant for solving the world's current political, environmental and social problems.
We must all gain humility, compassion and empathy for others, but most importantly, we have to eliminate the ego. The ego, particularly where it has gone to extremes with leaders we are electing to positions of power who are narcissistic, egotistical megalomaniacs, is creating a disaster for humanity. Better to elect people of humility to lead the world, rather than people whose only concern is their own fame and wealth.
On a different topic, related to the power of the Tao - The "handbags" the Sumerian and Babylonian kings are carrying in the images of them on the Temple reliefs may be explained as follows. In the myth of The Enuma Elish the Gods hand down the Tablets of Destiny to the kings. This is the source of the kings power on earth. However, anyone who has the Tablets on their person, is rightfully king. So to guard and protect these Tablets and maintain his authority, the king MUST carry these tablets on his person at all times. The only way to carry heavy stone tablets is in a "handbag." i.e. The "handbag" contains the physical authority of kingship bestowed by the gods and the legitimate source of the kings power over his people. In the same way the "handbag" symbols at Göbekli Tepe at the top of the stone columns represents the gods power of determining human destiny. The ancients would have prayed to the gods in front of these columns to ask for wealth or good harvests, or remove a curse.
