To my father, the most important man in my life. This quote says it all.
My father didn’t tell me how to live. He lived and let me watch him do it.

Foreword
For over 34 years, I have been a part of hundreds upon hundreds of interviews, and typically, at the end of most of them, I am stunned and dismayed at the lack of preparation or the lack of understanding on the candidate’s part regarding what an effective interview entails and what most employers are looking for in a quality candidate. I remember sitting in the conference room with Rob after a long day of interviewing, and we were both taken aback by the lack of interviewing skills that most of our candidates exhibited on that particular day. Though he and I have discussed this topic at length on our podcast, Rob felt it was time to get to get the word out through another medium.
This book will be a powerful resource for anyone who wishes to better understand the interviewing process, as well as for those who wish to hone their interviewing skills. Many of these experiences and suggestions that are being shared are a result of real life take-aways that will be meaningful and relevant to all who seek to attain their dream jobs. This is a timely periodical, and though many books have been written on this topic, few actually focus on providing the reader with the necessary recommendations in a succinct and timely manner. I highly recommend this book for those seeking to improve their interviewing skills or those interviewers who wish to better understand their role in the interview process.

Introduction
As an educator over the last 25 years, one thing I have learned is that interviewing, both as the interviewer and the interviewee, is one of the most important skills one can hone. In one year alone, I will have personally analyzed over 1,000 resumes and conducted 100 first round interviews to find a compatible candidate for five positions in our school district. Because of the imbalance of the number of applicants to available positions, I would acclaim that the interview has become even more valuable and important in recent years.
