The city is well worth a visit. It can be a day trip from Milan, but it is also an excellent place to spend a night or two.
The Province of Cremona is flat and rich in bicycle itineraries. I list many of them at the end of this guide. You can enjoy a bicycle ride and stop for lunch in one of the many restaurants and osterie available on the territory.
Cremona is a small city in the Lombardy region of northern Italy on the Po River, 85 kilometers southeast of Milan.

Downtown Cremona
Do you want to visit Cremona in one day?
Cremona is the city of music and sweet temptations; it is famous for its violins and its typical products, including the delicious nougat.
These are the locations you should not miss to savor all its charm even if you have little time available: Piazza del Comune, Torrazzo, the Violin Museum. A taste of nougat cannot be missing from your itinerary!
Most of Cremona's top sights are around Piazza del Comune. You'll also find tourist information there.
When you arrive, a lot of the main sights to see are part of the Cathedral complex. Be sure to ask about combined entrance tickets for discounted admission.
Cremona still keeps nowadays, in its urban implant, the original form of fluvial terracing, founded as a Roman colony on the bend of the river Po.
If you don't know how to give up shopping, go to the nearby windows of Corso Mazzini!
Amati’s violin
Although opera reached its zenith at Milan’s Teatro Alla Scala, the first great opera composer, Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) was from Cremona. So too is Mina, Italy's foremost favorite singer, whose status as a living legend is comparable to that of Barbra Streisand in the United States.
Cremona has a distinguished musical history. The 12th-century cathedral was probably the focus of organized artistic activity in the late Middle Ages region. By the 16th-century, the town had become a famous musical center.
There are essential ensembles for Renaissance and Baroque music, i.e., Choir & Consort Costanzo Porta, and festivals that maintain Cremona as one of the most important towns in Italy for music. Composer Marc’ Antonio Ingegneri taught there; Claudio Monteverdi was his most famous student, before leaving for
