Chapter 1
Samuel Jackson grew up on a pig farm in rural Lincolnshire. He loved pigs. When he was very young, his father had given him a tiny piglet to care for. He adored the creature and it became his pet. Sam treated it with great care.
This interest in pigs continued into adulthood. He became a scientist and eventually a medical researcher; his specialty was cloning. He was foremost in the cloning of sheep. However Samuel became more and more interested in producing a hybrid, half animal and half human. Naturally because of his knowledge of pigs and their great intelligence he wanted to clone a human and a pig.
Sam knew that if his plan to form such a hybrid became public knowledge, there would be a great deal of controversy. As it was many countries had already banned the creation of human animal hybrids. In 2010 a proposal on the subject was brought up by the US. Senate but it got nowhere. The religious community would also be up in arms against such a project. Samuel thought back to his stories of old. The great God Pan was half human and half goat and was worshipped by hunters and fishermen and shepherds and Isis the Egyptian god of death was also a hybrid so why not a pig and a human.
He would have liked to have used his own sperm for the experiment and planted it in a pig, but he felt it would be easier all round to use the sperm of a pig and implant it in a woman. He thought his wife, Janet, would be perfect for the role but would he be able to convince her to do it, he wondered. They had been married for 10 years and had two children. Samuel had met his wife at Edinburgh University where she was studying to be a doctor. They clicked instantly and after graduation decided to move in together. Janet got work in a hospital and Sam was lucky enough to get an excellent job with a research company. After two years they chose to marry and start a family. Janet got pregnant immediately and had a baby boy, a year later she gave birth to a girl. They felt their family was complete. Janet had returned to the hospital and resumed her work as a paediatrician. They lived comfortably in a large house in London and Sam was very content in his home life, however he constantly dreamed of creating a human pig. Now he wondered what his wife would think about his idea of implanting a pig's sperm into her.
First of course before he even mentioned it to Janet he would have to make sure that it was not dangerous. He didn't think it would be after all pigs are one of our close cousins and share a great deal of DNA with humans. So he spent many hours in his home laboratory studying up about the possibility of implanting a pig sperm into a woman. Everything indicated that it would be perfectly safe so at last he decided to tackle Janet.
That evening after the children were in bed he told his wife that he would like to discuss something very important with her. Janet turned off the TV and sat down on the couch with him. Sam's heart was beating furiously and he started to perspire.
Er Janet, you know how much I love pigs. They are such intelligent animals and much maligned by our society. Well I had this idea that I would like to create a human pig. Take the sperm from a male pig and insert it into a human female.
Janet's spared at Samuel shocked by what he was saying,
Are you serious Sam?
she asked.
Very
he replied.
Hmm, and where on earth are you going to find a female who would consent to be inseminated by a pig?
Janet, I was hoping you would do it,
Samuel said softly.
You must be joking, you really want to put a pig sperm into me so that I can produce a human pig baby?
"Janet I know it sounds like a crazy idea
