    THE NEW GUARDIANS

    PROLOGUE

The Seed of the Guardians is the story of a highly advanced race of beings from the inner arm of the galaxy that had developed a long life span and submitted to mental control to weed out their violent emotions. They watched over the other peoples in their section of the Galaxy and were known as the Guardians.

They became so passive that when they came in contact with a race of beings that they could not control, they were unable to defend themselves or the races they protected.

They came up with a plan.

They sent one of their ships, especially equipped with all their technology and wisdom to the next arm of the galaxy. There to find beings that could be implanted with their controlled emotions but could fight if need be, but only as a last resort.

Earth was one of the planets they chose.  They built large underground complexes to monitor their work and wait for the right time to call forth the New Guardians.

When the time came to activate what they had sown it was found that only two sites remained active, both damaged and few people had an undamaged seed.

Those that were called had to work in secret trying to build up the sites, build a shuttle and report to a Guardian monitor that had been left in the asteroid belt outside the orbit of Mars. Only then would they have access to the full technology of the Guardians.

As they began work on the shuttles they also used their new knowledge and abilities to help clean up the planet. They attracted the attention of Drug Lords and crime syndicates. A war started between the Crime Lords and the New Guardians. The New Guardians were winning until the Crime Lords located their base and decided to wipe them out with a nuclear strike.

Only by the slimmest of margins were the New Guardians able to avert a nuclear disaster; however their existence became known to the rest of the world.

Now begins the story of the New Guardians.

    CHAPTER ONE

The four New Guardian Commanders, Bill Williams of the ship Terra, Apple Blossom of the ship Golden Bear, Diane Williams (Ex-wife of Bill Williams) of the ship Searcher, and Juan Martinez of the ship Endeavor were meeting in the secure room at Security headquarters in the Valley located deep in the mountains of Colorado.

Commander Williams said, Things have quieted down around the world now and it is time for us to decide what we are going to do and how we are going to do it.

Commander Apple Blossom said, We need to get something out to the people quickly. I am beginning to hear rumblings about where are these New Guardians and all the things they promised us.

Commander Williams said, But we did not promise anything.

Commander Diane said, In a way we did. We said we would make available the means to clean up the world. I think we need to begin something so they know we are here.

Commander Juan spoke, First off I think you should all know that when I first learned about you, us, I was frightened. Actually I still am. I am fearful of what the Guardians may actually become. I got a taste first hand of what fear of us can cause people to do.

(Commander Diane had found Prof. Juan Martinez in South America while she was searching for one of the missing Guardian sites. Her group had been attacked by an assassination squad sent by the crime lords. Prof. Martinez had been critically injured and barely survived. He had been called and the quick healing of the Guardians had kept him alive long enough for his body to recover from his wounds.)

It occurred to me that the people of the world do not need to know that WE are the New Guardians. It may be to our advantage to let them think we are only the messengers of the New Guardians, the ones who are being given the technology to spread around the world where it is needed. That gives us an additional layer of organization to isolate us from the masses.

Commander Apple Blossom said, I do not wish to be isolated from the masses. Those are the people we are trying to help. My people have been hearing some rumblings from many sources. People are looking for something to show for the actions they took in deifying their current governments.

She continued, I have talked with my people and they wish to stay here and help those who are earthbound. It has been suggested that my Quartermaster people form small teams with several security personal to go out and setup contact points where people can come to request things from us and we can supply things to them. They would pose as normal persons in contact with the New Guardians.

Commander Diane said, Great idea. And when we have something to give/sell to them, your engineering people could show them how to use it.

Yes, that would work, said Commander Apple Blossom.

That sounds great, said Commander Bill, When we have something to sell to them. That could be a problem. We have to get to the Guardian first. I have given some thought to what we could do first. We have all seen how the Octar and Detend work. It seems to me that they can be used for a lot of different jobs. The Guardians had these available for us to use so I would think they would not be averse to us making more of them.

That is not going to happen until someone gets to the Guardian, said Commander Apple Blossom. I think our first priority is to get Commander Bill and his crew up there as soon as possible.

I agree, said Commander Juan. If we cannot get access to all their technology all this is for naught.

Commander Diane turned to Commander Bill and asked, When can you be ready to go?

    He responded, About two weeks.

She continued, OK! Now we need to decide how and where we are going to set up the contact points.

Commander Bill shook his head and asked, What?

Commander Diane said, Apple Blossom’s contact points. Are we going to set up in Embassies, just some office space or a tent out in a field?

As Commander Bills eyes glazed over he slumped back in his chair mumbling, Never could keep up with her.

Commander Juan said, I think it is time for a short break so we can all think this over.

As Commander Bill waved his hand the others rose from their chairs to get refreshments. After a short break everyone returned to the table.

Commander Bill said, Ok, any thoughts on how we will set up the contact points?

Commander Diane said, I think we should set them up in the US Embassies. They have them in most countries.

Commander Apple Blossom said, That would work, they could set one up in countries that don’t have one if we needed it.

Commandeer Bill said, I should think that would work.

Commander Juan said, No! That will not work. Have you ever tried to gain access to a foreign embassy? You have to have passports or visas or be a citizen of that country to get in. The common person cannot just walk in. If we want to serve the common person, we need something they can get to easily.

Commander Apple Blossom said, Let me talk with my command crew. Perhaps they will have some ideas. In the mean time we need to decide what we will be giving out first.

Commander Juan said, May I suggest something?

Certainly, answered Commander Bill. We need all the help we can get.

Commander Juan hesitated a moment as he gathered his thoughts and then said, First there is something that you all need to know. I have been working with Dr. Lyn Walker (Terra’s chief medical officer) trying to establish my Commanders telepathy that you three have. I have not been able to do that. In fact what little I had has left me.

There were several quick intakes of breath.

He continued, However, we have found that I possess another ability that may be more valuable to us. I am still working on getting it under full control, but basically I am empathic. I can know what you are feeling.

There were several seconds of silence as the other Commanders absorbed this information. Commander Diane was the first to speak. Wow! If you were dealing with the head of a government, you could get them to agree to most anything.

    Commander Juan started, Well, I don’t know - - -.

Commander Bill cut in, That could get him killed. If it was known they sure would not want to negotiate with him.

Commander Apple Blossom said, I think you are missing the point. I have been getting reports of the reactions of different people to our message. I believe that we will have to present a New Guardian to them; an actual person that they can relate to. We do not have to reveal all of us; in fact we may only need one.

    One? questioned Bill.

Commander Diane said, How could one person possibly get around to all the different governments on earth? Impossible!

Commander Apple Blossom said, One spokesperson for the New Guardians who then appoints emissaries, actually our Crew members, to work with the different governments. One person who, when talking to heads of Governments, knows if they are being honest with their words.

Commander Bill said, OK! How about you and Juan work on this and get back to us with some plans.

    They both agreed.

Commander Bill looked at Juan and said, Do you have more?

Yes, he answered. I have given some thought to what the people as a whole might need most. After food the one thing that all people need, the rich and poor, is some way to prepare the food. Right now the forests of the world are being depleted to supply fuel for cooking and heat. In the industrial counties they are using up the natural gas and petroleum. If we could come up with something like a two burner camp stove that ran off one of the power crystals, it would save trees, reduce carbon output, and generally improve every ones standard of living. If it could be used for heat also, then they could spend more time improving their living conditions instead of trying to find fuel for heat and cooking.

Commander Bill looked around at the other Commanders. All seemed to agree with Commander Juan. He said, "That
