Ramblings of an Untamed Mind… an Unexpected Collection of Poems

    Ramblings of an Untamed Mind

What time imprisons and order restricts

Is furiously angry as the lens depicts

If action was light and thought its father

Reality and sense would lose their martyr

Abandoned is the walking stick of the blind

In the ramblings of an impulsive and untamed mind

Sparrows fly by night to deliver the curse

Daydreams and fairytales need time to rehearse

Preparations and such, Peter will deny

On the vestibule of nature one can rely

Payment is determined in currency of kind

In the ramblings of an intense and untamed mind

White bridal wear is all the rage

On a tainted body its shade is beige

For purity in thought has the sound of a flower

In truth and victory a spark you can empower

Expansion and beauty is out there to find

In the ramblings of a pure but untamed mind

    Time

Never seeming to make up her mind

Time is easy or difficult to find

She overtakes it all when you need some space

And ignores the start of your important race

You cannot contain her, there is no trap

You will find yourself breathless two stokes into your first lap

She will foretell your progress and speed

And punish you when her words you neglect to heed

Time is bountiful, time is bare

Some ride free, some pay a fare

Some catch up, some fall behind

All battle together her rhythm to find

She is not yours to tame or deceive

For wrinkles and folds your heart will grieve

Time herself has no beginning or end

As you make her acquaintance, for yourself you must fend.

    Satellite

    Signals transmitted out into space

At the speed of light the messengers race

To deliver the parcel filled with news

For all who are in need of the information to use

Send me a text, give me a call

We’ll use space signals to meet at the mall

Credit cards swiped, messengers busy again

Bouncing round the globe, Peru, China, Spain

The message delivered may not always be clear

You’re breaking up, what did you say then? Oh dear!

One hopes the assumptions we make are right

The last thing the world needs is another fight

    Hunger

The man’s integrity is just out of reach

Please aid me, I need advise, I beseech

Money and my blood will pour down the drain

Efforts to retrieve the lost are in vain

Look up the information you seek in a book

But sir, I’m in a bind, I have no time to look

Solutions you will find, as you read

Sir, my stomach is empty, is it my mind I should feed?

Knowledge is a determined and disciplined diet

Sir, close your bank, people are gathering for a riot

On your books the hungry will stamp

And burn the pages in fires at their camp

    flow

trees grow roots, to hold them steady

people have children, for old age to be ready

flowers open their hearts in the spring

clouds drift round the world for a fling

postmen beware of the dogs in the mail

blind men interpret history in Braille

soft, the sound grass makes as it grows

deep beneath the rocks, magma flows

the sky is the blue reflected in the ocean

the stars, planets in heaps of commotion

both, the human mind’s capacity overpowers

as imagination’s hunger, both reality and reason devours

a spark’s future is held in a flame

    a girl’s wisdom foretold by
