About this ebook

Ideas are global, and without ideas there is no prosperity for anyone. The
idea process involves other steps than just having the idea and spring into
action. First, the idea has to be organized, leveraged and synergized. The
Anatomy of G.O.A.L.S. + E.FF.O.R.T., the history that endorse it formula
the process.

When you get an idea there are basic givens that should be in place in
order for the idea to be realized. Every idea needs Education/Experience,
Focus, Organization, Risk, and Teamwork. If you get an idea and do not
have the education or experience you have to go out an acquire that which
is needed. You have to focus on the tasks at hand. Emulation of an
organization will save you time of trial and error. Risk should always be
assessed every set of the way, because there is a fine line between
leverage and risk. To complete the cycle, a team should be put in place to
support the idea and support that which you are not familiar.

    Biography:

14 years as an editor and customer service representative for a legal biographical publication Mr. Burke has seen how biographical information can be transformative in telling a story.  He holds a B.S. in Industrial Administration degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a MBA from University of Phoenix.  He now lives with his wife and son in Houston, Texas

It goes without saying that Wal-Mart is the largest brick and mortar retailer on earth with over 400 billion dollars in revenue per year and growing, slowly. This did not happen by accident and took many years. In fact, it took over a generation. Upon graduating college, Sam Walton began working at J.C. Penney, and he owned two Ben Franklin franchises in Newport, Arkansas. However, he had to give them up because he lost his lease. Following that Walton opened his first Wal-Mart store in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. This was the first of many stores that led it to become the world’s largest discount retailer. Walton's achievements can be replicated by others, even if not at the same level. His formative years prepared him to take on the much larger challenges of running a chain of discount retail stores. Success is the culmination of many things, which can be attributed to hard work, but there are other factors governing the phenomenon because not everyone who tries to be successful in business usually makes it to the finish line. Of the many details, even a name can give pause to an element that might contribute to success. Incidentally, Sam Walton got the name Wal-Mart from the prominent store at the time, K-Mart, when he combined the first part of his name to the last part of K-Mart. Guilty by association is a cheap marketing method. It is sometimes overlooked, but can be effective when good attributes are attached to the name.

It is no accident that Wal-Mart was able to excel beyond its humble beginnings. Despite the struggles of Sam Walton’s debt load in running a chain of stores, he eventually took it public on the stock market. This is the conjecture I will investigate and find some semblance of correlation between education, focus, organization, risk and teamwork (E.FF.O.R.T.) and genesis (idea), organize, action, leverage and synergy (G.O.A.L.S.). As in life, there are no single direct path to success, but from the evidence of those who have been successful analysis gives glimpses of what can appear to be the concepts resembling G.O.A.L.S. + E.FF.O.R.T.

My journey to the concept of G.O.A.L.S. + E.FF.O.R.T. has been an arduous one. In 1990 after finishing my bachelor's degree, I returned home to Jamaica and started a business making natural juices in my hometown. The business failed within two years and so I decided to return to the United States after losing the 50,000 dollars I had brought to start and run the business. Once I got back to the United States I found the first job possible and landed at a company that published legal biographical books. I stayed there for the next 15 years. During that time, I was able to think about what it meant to start and sustain a business. In between working and listening to Howard Stern, I somehow came up with the acronym G.O.A.L.S and E.FF.O.R.T. It took me about 5 years to create, but I think within that time I was able to put together a clear and concise meaning of what it means to formulate an idea and bring it to fruition.

It goes without saying that entrepreneurship in our society is the predominant engine used in gaining wealth or getting an idea to the world. There are many ways to achieve this whether you do it alone or in partnership with others. Getting an idea to the practical stage requires first that the idea be thought up and then execution follows. There are also steps in between such as organization, assessing the risk and later leveraging and synergizing these ideas into different directions.

Entrepreneurship is a complex phenomenon of natural urgings and learned behavior. An entrepreneur will get the urge, but there are inclinations that keep them from advancing to the stage of taking action. Becoming a successful entrepreneur is not easy, and this is where G.O.A.L.S. + E.FF.O.R.T can be effective in leading the way in better formulating ideas as they occur.

The foundation of E.FF.O.R.T is based on education/experience, focus, organization, risk and teamwork. All these occur on the way to entrepreneurship, success, or failure. Effort as it has become known is not the only path to entrepreneurship, but it is a relevant factor in its approach to the path of clarifying identifiable problems and rewards. True, one does not have to have much experience to start a business or be an expert in what one wishes to pursue. However, one does need to have an education in the area
