Prologue
I am a fool. These are my follies.
Initiation
I was seventeen years young and dating a girl who was white as porcelain; we both knew she would glow in the dark if held to the light long enough beforehand.
We were at her parents' house, a massive concrete igloo in the country side. Her father had prepared for the deadliest of weather or a nuclear attack – if necessary. Dense, gray vines climbed trestles and wound around the exterior, while various shrubs and garden flowers colored the ground below. It was a wonderland. We spent a lot of time together there, but this time was different.

If he wanted to do more, it would have required more time and energy.
I asked about what this energy
was and he told me it was the aura: a bio-luminescent field that surrounds every object, whether alive or not. He proceeded to show me how to feel my aura. He formed the shape of a pistol with his right hand, opened his left palm and instructed me to do the same. He pointed the finger gun at his open palm and slowly circled the gun towards his hand. I followed along and, as I moved my hands closer, I felt a circle forming in my palm. My hands never touched. He told me the circling sensation was the reaction of my aura. The trick worked, but I dismissed it and figured I was
