THE BEGINNINGS
My intension is to start from the beginning. But when the beginning happened?
Contemporary theory is that everything started with Big Bang which affirms that all elements in the universe: time, space, energy and matter were compressed in a point of infinite density called singularity
which exploded some 13.7 billion years ago. The first question that arrives to the mind is: what was before? This question does not make sense at all as time was CREATED during the Big Bang.
The Big Bang is the origin of ALL? Or it was a single process of creation of infinite number of universes? Will be others cycles of creation and destructions? Many questions and all without an answer!
After the BIG BANG the matter was dispersed into a huge number of galaxies. If we could go back in time the universe will be getting smaller and in an instant before the Big Bang it disappears. It is a mathematical fact that goes beyond the capacity of the human mind. At least mine! After the Big Bang the mater scattered into the space. But what is space? The space has no limits; it can pass through everything and is infinite. In one moment we can think of a grain of sand in front of our nose or about the moments that have passed long time ago and in the following instant we can think of a very distant star or of today’s lunch. For the mind the distance and time does not exist.
In an ancient Hindu text Rig Veda
there is a section which I find wise and amusing: How the Universe began? Who knows, maybe only God knows and maybe even He does not know!
Another question is when and where life appeared?
One theory assigns the creation of life to the action of lightning very powerful electrical discharges that triggers chemical changes in the matter which creates life.
A different theory attributes the origin of life to the comets that brought the first unicellular elements of life to earth. But how was life created in comets?
Other scientists affirms that life is the result of an accident occurred by mere coincidence.
An idea of oriental philosophies is that life is like matter or energy, eternal and limitless. Life exists in "EVERYTHING. Even the rock has life, not in a sense that is accepted in western way of thinking, but a potential life which is difficult to understand.
Another subject is the mind. Can the mind exist without life? – Of course NO. As well, life can not exist without the mind. Now we will leave all these questions and occupy ourselves with the main subject of this book – evolution, which is nothing more and nothing less that adaptation to ever changing environmental conditions. How did we evolve from the unicellular organism to the present human beings?
