My Head is in the Clouds

But my feet are on the Ground

    Poems by J. A. King : theemailofadamking@gmail.com

THE SHARP ONE THE TALL ONE THE HARD ONE

and when I feel it inside

its those moments when removed is the I

like a signal interference in the clutter

of the city traffic going by

    Seeing hearts glowing

Not to be confused with neon tubes

    but in those moments

when I can see past the inter fear trances

the confusion of the best other efforts

    and able to b

trusting to find - find the way

    to a

    dream

    A SUMARY OF LOVE

    Adjacent to x

    Determined to identify the root

Of this thought when I saw you

Re calculating the formulas to say hello

    No rules could have predicted

That this equation would define the rest of my life

    Would you

Rings bought the diameter of our commitment

    Cosine

Just beyond the luster faded, so did we and back again

Caught in the loop of our calculation

    Working towards the solution

The addition of two incomplete wholes

    Subtracting the emotion spent

Divided by the trials faced by reaching an agreement

Was still no where near the sum total of

    Everything you bring to me

    Multiplied by you

    And now the remainder dwindling

Derivations gone, amid settling the hanging remainders

Can we ignore the erased equations in the margin?

    The variables that were dropped

The calculations that did not compute

So all that’s left, a clear sum total

    Of the years gone by

A value as comfortable as we are together

    A summary of love

    SOMETHING TONIGHT

To night they try the obsidian knife

to cut what they could not spite

from my flesh and mortal bonds

    My sisters weak to belong

and tho we play the days away

    pretending not to notice

    the pressure of the thumb

a silver thread connects the grey

    our minds unmortled and one

    SNOW STARTS TO FALL

    You

Looked down at the table top

    The conversation stopped

    Your gaze had fallen

    To where it now focused

On the cold grey light reflected

    Dull on the false wood

    And in your mind

    Something
