    A Valuable Liquid

He worked hard to get it right, so many different combinations. He could be here for years. There stood a man in a cloak of Auburn brown. In front, an old wooden table where he tried and tried but has not succeeded. Yet.

All around were bottles and books. Shelves and shelves filled the room. One window, a small window, was at the back of the room with torn curtains surrounding it. This was his only room in the building. The man worked in Castle, a Castle which belonged to the King of Silverbay. The Castle was an enormous building, built of grey stone bricks, gleaming windows and flags of bright red and silver.

After trying for the 1078th time, this man gave up and went to his second table in the corner of the room. On that table was a huge book in which was written every single combination made. He wrote in a plan for his next try.

Half-way through writing a visitor came to the door. It was one of the Kings Soldiers.

‘You are wanted by the King!’ said the Soldier.

‘I shall leave in just a minute’ said the man.

The man got worried. What he was working on was issued by the King and at the moment was not complete. Would he be punished by the King if the assignment was not finished?

The man walked down the many corridors and stairs of the Castle. And soon he arrived to the Kings throne where he was sitting and waiting.

‘Why are you in need of my presence?’ asked the man.

‘First, remind me off your name?’ said the King.

‘Egbert, Your Highness. My name is Egbert’ replied the man.

‘Well, Egbert, I would like to be informed of the progress made in your Project’ said the King.

‘Erm…Your Highness…I have not yet made much progress but do know that the potion was discovered years ago’ said Egbert.

‘I know that! I need this finished and if it is not complete I will have your Life’ shouted the King. ‘You have three Days and then I want it.’

Two soldiers escorted Egbert away from the King. He walked back into his room to carry on with the Kings work. Egbert was even more worried because if this was not completed then he would meet his Death. Egbert went back to his second table and carried on with his plan.

After ten extra minutes Egbert’s plan was done. He was ready to test it out.

Egbert took seventeen bottles which were all filled with liquids of different colours. These were potions. Egbert was a Potion Master also known as a Wizard…

He took the different potions and poured them in one bottle. One after another, purple then blue then red and green plus pink, orange, turquoise, violet and then many, many more. There the liquids in the bottle mixed together and bubbled frantically. They bubbled for some time. Bang! The potion exploded in Egbert’s face.

‘Argh!’ Egbert shouted. ‘Why won’t it work? I have tried every single combination and none of them work.’

Egbert looked around. He walked to his book case and looked through the books. Each title of every book was looked at. Egbert wanted to see if there was a book to make this potion for the King. And at that moment Egbert came along to a book he had never seen in his book case. Egbert
