Introduction
I had an opportunity to spend a few weeks in Ireland in April of 2001, so I took it. I made this a driving holiday and was able to visit a number of different counties in the Republic of Ireland.
Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle. Once you see her green fields at any time of the year, you will know why. It is a land of ancient sites, beautiful farmland, rugged people, and strong faith in religion.
The Foot and Mouth disease was taking its toll on tourism. Although at the time there was only one instance of the epidemic in the Northern Ireland, the rest of Ireland had to accept the responsibility of preventing its spread. So, I had to censor my stay and what I was able to see and therefore photograph.
I made my base at a family farm in County Clare. For the next 2 weeks, I traveled to and fro to get a feel of this blessed country. This was not put together in a straight timeline. Instead, it was ordered by county.

I was unable to visit Northern Ireland due to the foot and mouth epidemic. Most of the ancient sites such as stone circles and Celtic buildings were located on farmland. Wherever there is farmland, there are animals which could potentially get the disease. If any of the animals got it, they would have to kill and burn every animal on the farm; including the pets. That land could also not
