A POWERFUL PLACE

For me the best way to arrive at Kilmartin is from the south, from Lochgilphead. In this way you get the best possible sense of the wonderful tapestry of land and water into which Kilmartin is beautifully woven.

I think I love those miles between Lochgilphead and Kilmartin almost as much as any in Scotland, but trying to capture in words the how and why is hard because as much as anything it’s about the feeling the place imbues.

Kilmartin Glen is made up of many elements: the oak woods, the moorland, the rivers that curl through them, the low hills, and the sheer power of the light.
