Introduction

Since the publication of Humans Being in 2009, many clients have asked for a shorter book elaborating the stages on the soul grid. The soul grid is a simple framework for helping each of us to recognize where we are in our respective journeys and how to accelerate the path to joy, ease, and more conscious living. The awareness of how outside influences and voices in our heads may have served our journeys in the past and may be limiting our joy and ease today enables each of us to redirect our energy towards the lives we choose to lead.

Counterintuitive offers the promised detail with regard to specific life stages, as well as suggested implications for raising more conscious children, and creating more conscious and inclusive workplaces and educational systems. The book also offers revisions of an unpublished chapter from the earlier book with a more direct focus on the spiritual journey underlying our everyday lives.

Life is meant to be joy-filled and certainly much simpler than we have been making it over the years. The ability to live a life of joy and inner peace is open to every single person, regardless of individual circumstances. No earthly circumstances inherently limit our ability to live into our dreams and shine our full glorious light unless we give our power to them. Our ability to live a life of joy is within the reach of the humblest. It requires only conscious choice, full presence, and clear intention. Should you decide to be one of the lights in this world who enjoys what life brings and enjoys sharing that joy with others in whatever context you find yourself; this book is for you. If you are looking for an excuse to blame more powerful systems, circumstances, or other individuals for your lot in life, this is not your book.

Some concepts will test your pre-conceived notions about the world and who you are in it. Good! Until each of us is willing to open our minds to reconnect deeply with the wisdom of our hearts, we are missing the beauty of living into our unique gifts and reason for being. Have fun. Enjoy. And thank you for choosing to shine your light, instead of giving your power to others to tell you who you are, why you are here, and what you need to do to be good enough for their approval or affection. The journey, the insights, the feelings, the inner truth and guidance are inside each one of us. We arrived in this world fully equipped to live into our life’s work. Trust your own guidance and test everything, including whatever you read here, against your inner guidance—not your head and the voices of experts you may follow. Test only against your heart’s inner knowing. The path will emerge one step at a time. You will be able to recognize your next step when you are not attached to any expectations about how it should appear. Again—enjoy!
