Mend Me
It’s so terribly hard for me
To even think about you.
We punish each other with
Indifference.
I was too small
To see over your
Tall cold stone
Walls, so I feel I’ll never know
What really lies within.
What was once so warm
So comforting,
Like a small shelter in the midst
Of a harshly stinging blizzard,
Was only false security.
I found the line between my delusion
And a hard reality,
And I’m stuck with one foot
Planted on either side,
There’s no escape.
I’m caught on the end of
Your fishing line,
And i feel it
Tug, tug, tugging
At my heart.
You’re still pulling on it,
Unconsciously drawing me nearer
As we grow further apart.
The result...
A gory mess.
I never wanted anything more than
The ability to
Choose between being caught
Or set free.
I am, ironically, but a bystander,
A spectator,
An onlooker,
As the battle is waged
Turning me inside-out.
It hangs in the balance,
Precariously perched, just waiting
To tilt
And plummet over the edge
And you’re the one who must
Give it a nudge.
It’s not your fault
Darling,
You think you’re sadistic,
But you don’t enjoy causing real pain.
Love is a time-bomb
Waiting for it’s moment
Tick tick tick
Patience-straining
Heart-wrenching
Spell-binding
Suspense.
But it hangs in the air
Like an unspoken question
A lingering thought
The breath from your lungs.
Yank.
The warmth of your hand.
Rip.
Your shielding embrace.
Tear.
The sound of your heart.
Drip.
Like the sound of the rain.
Drop.
Or tears on our skin.
Drip. Drop.
Or blood from a wound...
It’s fake, false, lies
Like a lucid dream.
Sew me up
Or tear me apart
I numbed myself long ago.
One pill, two, three...
Whisk away my pain and my mind
Along with it.
All I wanted was peace-of-mind
Give me a hint
Give me a sign.
All I see in your eyes
Is a blank slate
An empty mind
Shielded from my prying fingers
I wanted to know what thoughts
Were hiding behind that lovely
Work of art,
Your expertly painted façade.
So I chose to be
A rag doll in your hands
A marionette on a string
An automaton without
Life, light, love.
I don’t care...
I don’t care...
I try not to
Feel
Any
More
... I do care
... I will always care
... so do what you will to me...
The world is just a heartless machine
Feeding me hopes
And feeding me dreams
Poison poison poison,
All of it.
Whispers in my ear.
Drip.
My lips on your cheek.
Drop.
Promises of what might have been.
Drip. Drop. Drip.
Into my glass,
Take a sip,
Burning throats and foggy minds
Spinning rooms and fading...
Fading
Until there’s no darkness
Or light
Just grey:
Blankness
Charcoal
Ash
Cold, cold
Emotionlessly cold
Metal
And it’s lodged in my heart
I want it out
But I don’t
But I do
But I don’t
Want to lose
You...
Chalcedony
Our souls were like
The eyes of children
Long before
Careless hands stirred the
Dust that settled in the
Bottoms of our hearts.
Out of sight is out of
Mind but
We have consciences for
A good reason.
We studied our plain
Reflections in the pools
Of our tears mixed
With the morning dew
Until the glittering turquoise
Water made our
Countenances look like
Gemstones.
Our greedy lungs
Grew tired of oxygen,
So we sunk deep into
The bottomless puddles
And inhaled deeply.
We soothed our throats
At the expense of
Our lives, but
Sometimes we kill
Ourselves father than
Endure painful betrayals.
Follow me as the
Watery stars lead us
Deeper into darkness,
For they will purge us of
Our prosaic existence
Right before our eyes,
Which were once as
Pure and lovely
As polished chalcedony.

Nostalgia & Cyanide
The air is full of cider
And cyanide
Pills bloom
In the fermented
Loin of her
Apple
Diced in half
Cut in cubes
Syphoning the sludge
To a single garden
I recall a breeze
that blew your kiss
in my face
and the saliva
that drooled
from the ripened sky
Drenched my hair
In sonic bliss!
I tasted your flower
Chewed
