    When the UFOs came,

    you were the first on board.

    You took my hand and

    dragged me along the shiny hallways:

    Look, the control room!

    The experiment room!

    Then you wanted to stargaze,

    and as if that wasn't enough,

    you made me watch

    every

    freaking

    sunset

    and sunrise

    and moon

    and planet

    and comet

    and meteor

    and all of them swirling black holes.

    In time you started to figure out

    why I barely ever

    slept back home,

    why my eyes changed shape

    when I got mad

    and why the gravity in our house

    was always a little peculiar.

    Back then you just thought

    your senses got confused

    from binge watching
