    CHAPTER ONE

There once was a little girl.  She had two brothers and a sister and they lived in the south of Bracknell in a house called Villa Augusta.

Now this little girl was no ordinary child, for she had the power to sulk!

Spoilt, sulky Miranda was a horrid little child with a sour face and saggy shoulders, drippy hair that kept falling into her eyes and gangly legs that looked like elastic bands stretching when she walked.

Miranda’s brothers and sister were very different to her.  They were happy normal children, no extra sulks included!  It made it very hard for Miranda’s parents. Going to the shops was a big nightmare.  If she wanted a toy or a sweet she would pout, stamp her feet and cry out loud so that all the other customers in the shop would stop and ask if she was alright.

Miranda’s parents would get so embarrassed; they would either buy her whatever she wanted just to keep her quiet or leave the shop immediately.

But that didn’t stop Miranda.  No.  Instead of being happy that she got her way, she would insist on asking for the impossible.
