A FLURRY OVER FLORRIE

Adam had stopped at the traffic lights when the large and somewhat imposing emerald green van pulled up alongside him, its bodywork decorated with random-coloured swirls. He couldn’t help but look twice. Doing so, he caught a sassy grin from the woman behind the wheel.

Left amused and a little flattered, Adam watched as the green machine sped off, with the woman giving a cheeky little wave as soon as the traffic lights allowed.

On that day, he wasn’t to know he would be seeing a lot more of that memorable van and its equally unforgettable driver – two months later, he moved in next door to both of them.

Adam and his daughter Kara were tending the garden when Melanie pulled up in Florrie on the driveway next door. By now, they were familiar with the sound of Florrie’s engine and Melanie’s neighbourly disposition.

Melanie climbed from the van, laden with bags of ‘bits’ she’d picked up for her forthcoming trip away with friends.
