About this ebook

This e-book (epub) is a philosophical treatise on life and love from the cradle to the grave. Its topics are diverse and explore a wide selection of historical subjects from politics to religion, and war and peace. The issues discussed are those as seen through the eyes of a man whose life experience rests on one basic theme: the desire of a more prosperous future for this country, and a hope and prayer for the children of the new millennium.

    PART I

    PROLOGUE

I was conceived on the Eastern Seaboard during the frost of winter in a land covered with snow and ice.  Carried across the great landscape of this country to the Pacific Coast, and transplanted in a paradise of endless summers, earthquakes, and drought.  Raised in the tenets of Roman law, only to be formed and shaped by the hand of Yahve.  It is from this evolution of faith, through love and understanding that I now wish to speak.  Long passed are the days of hesitation, and the hours of procrastination have run their course.  The moment of truth is upon us and destiny shall wait no longer.

I now wish to speak only to those who will listen.  But as words are merely the capture of thought, it is my most fervent hope that you will hear what I have to say so that your understanding may prosper into wisdom and that my thoughts and love shall remain but a cherished memory in your hearts.  For much have I loved you long before the words had come to me, yet even now those words cannot express the magnitude of that love.  Also, to those who have long since departed from us in this life shall I speak; though not to them, but from them and in honor of their memory which will remain forever etched in my heart.

Looking back to the time of my earliest childhood when, with each sunrise, my heart would leap for joy in anticipation of what the new day would bring I must now ask myself: what was this emotion that had so generously come to me and found for itself a home and place to flourish?  Was it the folly of a stranger lost in paradise, or simply the desire of a young and restless child in search for the meaning of love?  The boy in me that was wants to believe the latter, but the man in me that is knows better.  For love has always been with me since the cradle, and although I am compelled to seek and search further, I find myself no longer lost and seem to have found my way.

For what more can a man ask when all that he will ever need is right there before him.  If you would just open your eyes and look, you shall see that love is in the very air we breathe and that paradise is already here waiting patiently for your command.  You have often heard it said: ask and you shall receive.  But I believe it to be better stated: it is there for the taking and one need not ask.  For asking implies permission, and since when does one need consent to take what is freely and rightfully his?  Such is paradise my friends, and as you will soon discover it is an earthly gift bestowed upon the living; not some intangible thing reserved only for the afterlife.

You have also heard it said: there exists something in store for us in the afterlife, should we either conform or fail to adhere to the mores and teachings of those who have come before us; however, I believe this to be a fiction.  For not only is there no afterlife, there is no heaven nor hell either.  Having said this, it is not my intention to dislodge you from the faith which you have so devoutly practiced throughout your life, nor deprive anyone of that dream which they have imagined for themselves upon their death; I only wish to give a simple explanation of the concept of paradise and how it relates to the here and now.

Let me begin by saying: that you have only this short period of time in paradise to appreciate and understand the meaning of your existence here on earth; the choices that you make which will affect the outcome of your lives, are yours to do with as you will.  Have you not heard it said: today is the first day of the rest of your life?  So choose well my friends, because the consequences thereof which will determine your future depend upon it.

Even though in this life many may have committed numerous transgressions and injustice against humanity, I believe there is still hope and opportunity for redemption.  How so? one might ask.  Well, in the first instance, one must understand that he is not the only transgressor that has ever walked the face of the earth.  Many have come before you, and there will be others who shall come after.  Though it would appear that some present themselves to be above criticism and without blemish, this too is a fiction.  For believe me: only those who aspire for truth and humility will unabashedly tell you that they too have committed egregious mistakes, and are not without fault.

Throughout the ages, too much ignorance has prevailed on this earth and little wisdom has blossomed from it.  What I offer today is not wisdom; it is only my most fervent hope that you will step out of the shadow of these failed doctrines and stand before the sunshine of your own conscience and knowledge.  It is only through this understanding and belief in yourself, that you will ultimately find the peace and freedom that you now so desperately seek.

In order for you to extricate yourself from the bonds of this nonsense that has for so long enslaved you to the past and robbed you of the future, you must first confront that
