What is this?
INTPs, rightfully so, have a lot of questions about who they are and what their place in the world is. I know that I’ve spent much of my life wondering what anything means, why am I so different than everyone else? and endlessly curious as to why I have more intimacy in my own mind than I do with people in real life.
For those who know from my podcast DOPEamine, you’ll know that I’ve spent the past few years of my life dedicated to understanding myself as an INTP after a series of failures which led me to question what I kept doing wrong and why I couldn’t make life work the way I needed it to.
I’ve been dealing with Cyclothymia since I was a kid and also have ADHD, which brings being a Highly Sensitive Person along with it. There are plenty of problems here already on top of struggles to figure out why I am the way I am.
Now, this isn’t a woe is me session, so much as I want you to know where I’m coming from. I’m not just some INTP trying to tell you how to live. All of these answers and expressions are part of my story. This is a catharsis for me that you happen to benefit from by putting it into a book. But also having the opportunity to meet and connect with many INTPs has shown me how rad people of my same type can be when we see past our own limiting beliefs tied to logic.
I set out to find out more about myself because I refused to see myself as a failure over and over again. There had to be something I could figure out and change. So I learned all about INTPs through Personality Hacker, AJ Drenth, a multitude of books and other online material over an intense few years of study. I work for myself, so this wasn’t just a nights and weekends
thing. I plowed through material then turned to real-life experience.
I’ve had the privilege of working with Personality Hacker as a client and attending their live events, which gave me the opportunity to see and speak to more INTPs in-person to compare experiences, ask and answer questions and see the potential of each one first hand.
It was after those events that I started a YouTube channel with mostly INTP content dedicated to helping INTPs answer difficult and sometimes common questions to think about things from a different angle. I’ve had the unique privilege of seeing comments and having conversations with loads of INTPs to compare experiences and find the patterns in what INTPs deem to be the most important topics in their lives.
With all of that said, I thought it best to compile some of my favorite and most interesting questions that I’ve come across, compiled them into this short book for you to see some of the patterns for yourself. This is the first of many short Q&A books I would like to write and as the queue fills up, I will produce as many as needed! Feel free to ask me a question on Quora to be potentially featured in the next book!
