Reviews for The INTJ Woman
5 ratings1 review
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Fellow INTJ woman, and I was not impressed. I skipped through large portions of the book, because some parts were less about information on INTJs and more about humble bragging. Or just bragging. I didn't read this book to be pat on the back, or to experience the author patting herself on the back. There were also sections of text that were repetitive (as in an editing issue). This tells me she didn't double and triple check her work while preparing to publish.

Chapter 1: The Myers Briggs Isometric Test
Katherine Cooks Briggs and Isabelle Briggs Myers were the mother and daughter who designed the world’s most popular personality profiling test – the MBTI evaluation. The test was based on the ideas of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist.
The MBTI psychometric test is used by some 80% of the world’s most powerful business organisations, with approximately 3.5 million assessments each year. Academia, however, considers the test not to be
It’s important to take the paid INTJ test as the ones online are not accurate, and this can be seen by the many people who claim to be INTJ. For myself, I have had the tests conducted by industrial psychologists, at university, colleges, and various labour departments in different countries. The online test is not accurate.
These two personality profiling assessments are constantly vying for dominance in the market place. For those of us who are INTJs, the degree of self-knowledge gained is a lot more useful than that evaluated by the FFM.
When taking the test, the test determines the four categories you fit into. These are either Introvert or Extrovert, Intuition or Sensing, Thinker or Feeler, and Perception or Judgement.
Candidates are not assessed by a professional to establish these traits. The questionnaire is based on our own opinion of our own traits.
INTJ stands for Introverted, Intuition, Thinker, and Judgment, and it’s the most rare of all sixteen Myers-Briggs profiles.
Introversion vs Extraversion
Introversion is a genetic trait. The brain of an introvert is sensitive to noise, visual clutter, movement, and crowds. For this reason, introverts do not enjoy going to large social functions or interaction with many people. It has nothing to do with shyness or a lack of social skills.
There is a physiological difference between the brain of an introvert and that of an export. According to Dr. Randy Buckner, a psychologist at Harvard, introverts tended to have larger, thicker gray matter in their prefrontal cortex while extroverts had less gray matter. There are other physiological differences that are now being revealed as more and more scientists look at the biological differences between introverts and extraverts.
Extroverts do not have the degree of sensory sensitivity that an introvert has. Therefore extroverts seek to increase their stimulation by interacting with others frequently.
As a result of the genetic sensitivity that introverts have, they prefer lots of quiet time to recoup. If they are required to socialize at the same level as an extrovert, it can often take a few days or a week to recover their equilibrium.
Intuition vs Sensing
People who use their senses are more focused on using factual information obtained through their senses (eyes, ears, smell, hearing, feeling), while those who use intuition are looking for patterns and impressions in the information they already have. They use that information they have to draw conclusions about the future.
Thinker vs Feeler
We all think and feel. This category determines how we make decisions. A thinker bases decision making on evaluation and thinking through consequences and paths to obtain something whereas feelers will base decisions on what they feel. The feeler is more concerned about the effect of a decision on people whereas the thinker is more concerned as to whether the strategy will work.
What makes the INTJ unusual is that those who are predisposed to using intuition would generally be feelers and not thinkers. When the INTJ combines intuition with thinking, the conditions for invention, creativity, and strategy are optimal.
Judgement vs Perceiving
Those who prefer to make immediate decisions because they prefer closure and an organized life fit the judgement category. Those who have no issue with leaving issues unresolved prefer to let things unfold to see what will happen.
Judgement also enables the drive to find solutions.
INTJ-A AND INTJ-T
Recently, the 16 Personalities website has sub-divided INTJs into two sub-types - INTJ-A and INTJ-T.
The A is for Assertive and the T is for Turbulent. This is neither part of Myers Briggs’ work nor that of Carl Jung on which MBTI is based.
Briefly, turbulent personalities are more prone to depression and a lack of self-confidence while assertive types are more confident and, as such, don’t push themselves that hard.
Similar Classifications
The INTJ is also known as the strategist – the person who plots and plans and uses data to determine the best actions forward. They’re the top of the food chain. Without sound strategy, business, careers, bringing up children, determining an educational path, etc. are not likely to be successful. Chance often plays a role, but strategy is necessary. Not without reason is the INTJ known as the strategist.
The INTJ is also known as the mastermind. This is because they think in a logical way that is not influenced by emotions or self-interest. They are not influenced by factors outside of the evidence that is needed to arrive at the best strategy.
What Is the Best, Most Accurate Myers-Briggs Test Online?
The Myers-Briggs MBTI Instrument
This is the official 93-question test designed by Myers and Briggs and based on Jung's personality types, the one you might take at your workplace. Because they hold the copyright and require that a trained and certified professional translate the results for you, this test is not free—it usually costs about $50. Although you will find other tests online, even if they're based on the official assessment, they're not the same as the Myers-Briggs.
The only way to be absolutely certain whether one is an INTJ is to take the official test. If you follow the link, you'll find options to take it online or on paper and a list of certified people near you to interpret the results.
Chapter 2: How Accurate is the MBTI Test?
INTJs who mention their Myers Briggs classification will often find a backlash against their statement. It will come in the form that the test is inaccurate and a load of nonsense.
The truth is that every isometric test can be inaccurate, accurate, partially accurate, and can be cheated at.
That’s because they are all the result of people’s subjective opinion about themselves. People may not know themselves well, or they may be misinformed about themselves, or they cheat at the answers.
When asked
