My children, Shayna and Dawson, thank you for never giving up on me. Even when I was at my worst and the most unlovable person on the planet you were always there for me and you continued to have patience and love for me that only children can have for their mother. I will love you eternally and you will forever be my most amazing works of art. I love you to the moon and back!

    INTRODUCTION

    Namaste!

What is a Chakra? Chakra is a Sanskrit term for the word wheel or disk. It is derived from the root word cakra. A chakra, pronounced cha-kra with a resounding ch, is a concentrated energy center in your body. There are seven major chakras located along your spine. Each chakra has its own vibrational frequency that is depicted through a specific color.

The chakras in your body take in, incorporate, and emanate energy. It is this energy that keeps your body functioning properly. When these chakras function improperly, physical or mental illness is very likely to occur. There are various levels of activity within each chakra. When a chakra is open it will function in a normal fashion. When the chakra is blocked it will become underactive. When the chakra is open too much it will become overactive. This is why keeping your chakras balanced is very important.

Each chakra corresponds to a massive nerve center in your body. The chakras also correspond to specific psychological, emotional and spiritual states. The invisible energy held within each chakra is called Prana. Prana is your vital life force. It is what keeps you vibrant. Prana keeps you healthy and Prana keeps you alive. It is the sum total of all energy which is manifested throughout the universe. All of the forces in nature come from Prana. Prana is the link between the astral plane and the physical body. When the thread that is Prana is cut, the astral body will then separate from the physical body and death takes places.

The chakras are broken down into chakras of matter, chakras connecting matter with spirit and chakras of spirit. The chakras of matter are the root chakra, sacral chakra and the solar plexus chakra. The heart chakra connects matter and spirit. The chakras of spirit are the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra.

The root chakra is your center for stability, security and basic needs. It encompasses the first three vertebrae, the bladder and the colon. When this chakra is open properly you will feel safe and fearless. When it is open you will feel safe and fearless. This is also where kundalini resides. Kundalini is the vital force you hold within you. Kundalini is often called the sleeping goddess or serpent power and is represented as a serpent coiled around the root chakra at the base of the spine. The sacral chakra is your creative and sexual center. It is located above the pubic bone in the navel area. The last chakra of matter is the solar plexus chakra. It lies in the area from the navel to the breast bone. This is your source of personal power. The heart chakra is the connection between matter and spirit. It is located in the heart center and is the middle of the seven chakras. The heart chakra unites the lower chakras of matter with the upper chakras of spirit. The heart chakra is your source of love and connection. The throat chakra is the first of the chakras of spirit. It is located in the neck and is your source for verbal expression and your ability to speak your highest truth. The throat chakra includes the neck, thyroid, parathyroid, jaw, mouth and tongue. The third eye chakra is the second of the spirit chakras. It is located between the eyebrows. This is your center for intuition. The crown chakra is the last of the chakras. It is located at the crown of the head. It is the chakra of enlightenment. It is your spiritual connection to your higher self, your connection to others and your connection to the divine.

There are various levels of activity in your chakras. When a chakra is open it will function in a normal fashion. If a chakra is not open enough it will become underactive. If a chakra is open too much, it will become overactive. When your chakras are all open properly and operating at peak performance, you will find you will be more healthy, more open and more happy. Having chakras that are underactive or overactive can cause many physical and emotional illnesses.

There are many ways to restore balance to your chakras. This book will not only teach you more about each chakra, but it will also teach you ways you can restore this imperative balance to your chakras.

    Chapter One – Root Chakra

    ROOT CHAKRA

As seen above, the image for the root chakra is surrounded by four lotus petals. Each of these petals corresponds to four Sanskrit syllables: vam, am, sham, and sam. Inside the root chakra symbol you will see an upside-down triangle that has a dualistic meaning. The most common meaning is the downward cone shape symbolizes the funneling of knowledge to the seed from which wisdom and spiritual awakening sprouts. From the other direction, the sides of the triangle are symbolic of the broadening of your consciousness.
