Ray closed that guy, didn’t he?

He had bounced around for a few years, became a car salesman and then a top closer. Within a few years, he ended up owning this dealership, which he re-named, LJ German Imports. The manufacturer in Germany was eager to get African-Americans into the ownership of dealerships in the United States. Atlanta was a big city with lots of African-Americans. It had proven to be good match, as LJ German Imports became a very successful store.

Dwight was doing his best to fit in and do well. This was his third car sales job in Atlanta. Moreover, this was the best one yet since this store sold luxury German autos instead of the Japanese sedans Dwight had been selling. Leon came back ten minutes later and mentioned to Dwight that he was having a pool party at his palatial house on Saturday.

You come after your shift. And bring that pretty girlfriend of yours.

When Dwight went home that night, he felt tired. It had been a long shift. As soon as he saw Amber, he perked up. She was the central joy in his life. He was really in love with her.

Now, Dwight was just your average guy—an uneven mixture of self-confidence, insecurity and ambition. As a teen, he had a checkered history with girls; he was not a big man on campus. So, he felt he lucked out when he met Amber at a sports bar where she was working as a cocktail waitress. She was a shapely blonde with a cute butt.
