About this ebook

Being unknown individual, I could not find anyone that would put their name and reputation on this book. I don’t imagine anyone wanted to take such an unnecessary risk to themselves, so I had to write a kind of introduction. As you can see, I’m not what you would call very adept at this sort of chore but am struggling to do my best. This book was written with no research other than some ideas taken from contemporary news events and my own reading of books and newspapers. I have made no claims of anything in this book of anything except reflecting my own ideas, opinions, and outright guesses as to what an expert is. The reader may find some real revelations that may have never occurred to them. Maybe they can find some humor in this work, or maybe they will find absolutely nothing. I am hoping the reader will find at least something to make them wonder about all the experts we seem to think we need in our society.

    Introduction

Being an unknown individual, I could not find anyone that would put their name and reputation on this book. I don’t imagine anyone wanted to take such an unnecessary risk to themselves, so I had to write a kind of introduction. As you can see, I’m not what you would call very adept at this sort of chore but I’m struggling to do my best.

Maybe they can find some humor in this work or maybe they will find absolutely nothing. I am hoping the reader will find at least something to make them wonder about all the experts we seem to think we need in our society.

How many of people claim to be experts and are not? Many people make an imaginary claim of expertise with nothing more than their bellicose claim of being an expert. How many of these do we follow to our own detriment and with no realization of this folly? We think many of the experts we think we should follow are appointed by our government with no regard as to whether they are truly experts. There have been questionable experts from the dawn of time and will probably be with us until the end of time. Many of our experts are really just sophisticated con artists that want to relocate as much of our money as possible. Preferably to their own bank accounts while not getting put in jail where they belong. The only people’s welfare they are looking out for is their own and could care less about anyone else’s.

Some areas of expertise are covered in this book and obviously not every type will have been mentioned in this book. Why I say obviously not all are mentioned in here is because if they all had been, this book would have been over ten thousand pages and very unreadable. I have, therefore, tried to keep this short and readable while giving you an idea of why we should take a closer look at people that make the claim of being an expert.

If you have made it this far into this book, I hope it has intrigued you enough to get you to keep reading. If you made it past this lame introduction, the hope is that you enjoy the rest of this book. Again, thank you for taking the time to read on.

    Chapter 1

    Who and What Are Experts

It all depends on who or what you turn to for the definition of an expert. You can get a definition from the dictionary and a slightly different one from an encyclopedia. My definition of an expert is very different from these otherwise very reliable sources of definitions of words and other information. I think, in a lot of cases, an expert is a person with an extremely high opinion of their own particular opinion. In some cases, the expert’s opinion isn’t worth the breath it takes to pronounce it. Some of the experts we have today truly deserve the title of an expert while many of them are expert in title only that has been bestowed on them by themselves. One thing is for sure and that it has worked for thousands of experts in all sorts of fields that had never been thought of in the not-too-distant past that had never needed an expert before. Anything a person wants to be an expert at all they have to do is make the claim that they are an expert in that field. If you can think of it, you can bet there is an expert that can be found. This doesn’t mean this person is an actual expert, and it doesn’t even mean they actually know anything about the subject they are claiming expertise in and may have never even read a book on the subject. This is a little like the guy running around in uniform and wearing a Congressional Medal of Honor while claiming to be a military hero even though he was a draft dodger.

If you don’t believe that there are far too many people claiming to be experts, just look around your own life. In all likelihood, you have at least one expert in your own family. They always seem to know what is best for you even though they seldom follow their own advice on things about life or really know what they are talking about. In most of the things they are experts at seem to be sports of some kind whether they have ever participated in the sport or not. Your family expert may be able to tell you the best car to own or any number of other things that you may or may not need or ever need. Experts will always give this information, whether solicited or not, and are sure that you wanted it. You may have had dealings with experts while planning a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, or almost anything in our modern lives. It does seem that we need experts to plan all things for us if we want them to turn out the right way.

Even without our own family experts, we seem to look for experts to guide us in everything we do from our birth to the grave, and there seems to be nothing in between that we don’t need an expert for advice. How many of us have hired an interior decorating expert? The same question can be asked of exterior decorating experts and getting the same answer. We don’t trust our own tastes and ability when it comes to decorating. Do you think that Mother Nature has this problem? Would nature look better if designed by an expert than it looks by being left to random design by Mother Nature? Even with this thought in mind, we still think we need an expert of design to tell us how to decorate.

What we need are less advice from experts and more belief in our own capabilities that we all possess. There are many aspects of our lives we should be able to control without needing an expert to guide our every move. What I am saying is that it has gotten so bad that we need an expert to choose the best underwear and socks for us to use. Do you really think that children are making good choices by copying rock stars and movie stars? Is this the kind of image we want them to project to others? Most of these stars have become a sort of expert at selling their style of clothing and their lifestyle to our children so as to make a profit for themselves. The more outrageous the clothing or anything else is, the more the experts try to convince us we need this.

By looking at trends around the world, you can see that many more people are falling into the expert trap. We are following the experts in the selection of our politicians. Most of this is done to the detriment of the working class and built up for the benefit of the rich. The campaign of 2008 is a perfect example of how ineffective political experts are in choosing candidates. At the start of the primary season, not one expert picked the top candidates for the presidential race for the White House. Even so, we still fall for what the political experts tell us and will choose a president based on these expert words of wisdom. The politicians we choose by listening to these experts are not only poor choices in most cases but they steal us blind by bad political decisions and many things we think we need expert guidance for.

All our politicians want us to believe they are the experts we should be following. Even though you can see what a bad expert most of them really are and that they aren’t working for us but for themselves. There are people that lean left or right and want us to believe they are the only one that has our best considerations at heart. How many of you leaned toward the left during the sixties because of the Vietnam War and now lean right because of the patriotism after the World Trade Center disaster? How many of you wanted health insurance reform until all the idiots came out declaring what a dangerous idea this would be because the government would be deciding if you would be getting health care or be euthanized? This is so stupid that it shouldn’t need a response, but the idiots hammered on it so much that many people believe this is really going to happen. Most people don’t seem to remember that when Medicare was being fought over, we were told that if we signed up for it, we were really signing up to be euthanized when we started costing too much to care for. How many people do you know of that were euthanized by the government for costing Medicare too much? Why do we allow political idiots too scare the hell out of us for no other reason than to scare the hell out of us?

Experts need us to keep listening to them because it keeps them in a well-paying job that would otherwise be unneeded and then they would have to find a real job where they might actually have to work. By listening to experts, we keep several thousand people at work that would never be able to find another means to support themselves or their families. The truth of it is that some experts are nothing more than highly paid con artists, and the believing public keeps them in business. Yet we will keep listening to them and paying for their advice no matter whether it is good or bad in the long run.

Recently, we have started listening to idiots that have absolutely no idea what we really need in government. Some call themselves tea partyers and don’t seem to recognize the fact we need a government, but they believe people can get along without any leadership. They apparently know about several other countries around the world that don’t have a government in place. The biggest problem for our government seems to be that we elected an African American, which isn’t the correct type of leader. We all know that America can only be led by a white man and no other can guide the country properly. Where did any minority ever get the idea this was a free country and could possibly be expected to lead the free world? We have so many morons knowing we are going to hell because we no longer have a real leader. If you don’t believe this, all you have to do is watch the evening news for a few nights. We have calls by several morons that want our entire congress investigated for their communist leanings and, therefore, not real Americans. Then there are the idiots that want us to believe the president is in government way over his head. The leader seems to be a person that only completed a half term as governor but could run the country better if given the chance. I really hope the American public is stupid enough to elect a person that couldn’t complete their term as governor. Does this expert really think that when the going gets tough, they can just set the mantel of power down and go home? Then there is another person that wanted to impeach President Clinton at the same time he was having an affair. This sounds like a real prospect for the leadership role he should be filling. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingritch are not qualified to lead the free world no matter what the pundits on Fox News say with their twisted facts and figures. There are so many of these phonies that shouldn’t be listened to by anyone, but many seem to think they are getting real information and, in some cases, real instruction.

There is a program that I watch that I find very entertaining but not very instructive. The host makes certain to tell everybody almost every broadcast how much others would like to take him off the air. I doubt seriously that many other real newscasters even listen to the stupidity that spews from this ignorant individual’s mouth because of simple things I have heard him say. He was all excited one night because one of his heroes was attacked as prejudice and he could prove he wasn’t. He made a great show of the fact there was one black man in a painting with his hero. Besides, this is a painting and not a photograph, and you can add whatever you want in a painting after the fact. This really doesn’t register with people today since they seem to think a painting is just like a photograph. Why is Mona Lisa smirking at the photographer? I don’t suppose a servant would ever be with this hero. I know there hasn’t been a study done by the program because they don’t seem to realize the hero considered blacks unable to be trained as a fighting force and didn’t want them in his Army until he discovered he couldn’t get enough whites and therefore had to accept blacks even though he didn’t want to then. Another great thing to remember about this not prejudice hero is that he was a slave holder. What color were the slaves? His hero also considered freedom of the press all right as long as no attack was leveled at him. When the press attacked him, the editor was arrested and put in prison and fined, and this wasn’t just sometimes but all the time until the presidency of Thomas Jefferson when the press was finally truly freed. There was no equal treatment of blacks in our military until after WWII and that was when a Democrat finally integrated the military. Even then, it was several years until this integration was finally adhered to. The reason integration was not done right away is because the president that followed Truman didn’t believe that black soldiers would actually fight. Dwight Eisenhower believed blacks were inferior to whites in battle. Never mind that blacks have fought in every American war. Even so, President Eisenhower slowed military integration as much as he could while in office. After all, why should white southern soldiers be required to work with people they knew were inferior to them? There are things he claims that make absolutely no sense, but some people listen like he is a true oracle. Glen Beck should really study the subjects he talks about rather than spewing statistics that make no sense and a history that doesn’t match the facts.

    Chapter 2

    Psychology Experts

When did we become so dependent on psychoanalysis and why? It seems to me that a lot of people are seeing these experts just because it is in vogue and we need to keep up with friends, neighbors, and family. After all, we need something in common at the weekly bridge party so that we can all compare notes. That many of us don’t need these services is irrelevant and does give us reference in point of fact. There are people that really do need this service, but the experts have made it sound as if we all need their services, and many of us seem to believe this. Instead of talking to friends or family, as used to be done in the past, we pay a stranger two hundred dollars an hour to listen to our ramblings and think we are getting worthwhile help. People that do need help have been acting and lying for so long it is easy for them to convince psychologists that they don’t need help. On the other hand, you have the people that don’t need help but can convince the psychologists that they do need help. That may be more because of the fact of two hundred dollars an hour for their professional help than any real need. This is a situation that really comes into play when psychologists are treating criminals that are in prison. Criminals have been lying and acting for friends, family, and the justice system for most of their lives and can easily fool psychologists into believing they have changed their lives to conform to society. Psychologists don’t believe this can or would be done by criminals as there would be no advantage in doing so. What the psychologist fails to note is that by conforming, the criminal can get an early parole and get back to committing crimes. The psychologist apparently believes that a leopard can change its spots at any time they would like. The psychologist believes the criminal is cured, but the criminal knows better and society will soon find out. The real problem for the criminal is that in our society, most owners of businesses will not give a criminal a chance of getting a job. If the former convict could be brought back into society with job training and provided with a real job it would go a long way toward cutting down on crime. Another problem here is that some criminals have been given this break and then have stolen from the very people trying to help them. With this going on, it is hard for business people to believe the criminal is trying to change for the better and proves the psychology expert is wrong in thinking he can change criminal behavior.

A big problem with psychologists and psychiatrists is that they hold all the answers and are never wrong. I have a completely different perspective on all this nonsense. These experts don’t seem to notice what is happening in our society in relation to entertainment and criminal activity and even stupid behavior. Experts will not admit that there is a direct connection between entertainment and the rise in violence. Experts believe that children can tell the difference between entertainment and reality. The truth is much different—not only can children not tell the difference but adults can’t either. How can an expert claim a child can tell the difference when adults can’t tell the difference between a soap opera and real life? Do any of you really believe that children can tell the difference between entertainment and reality, especially you experts? I submit that a child can’t tell the difference but will fatally act it out in some cases. Going by this and the fact that some adults can’t tell the difference between entertainment and reality, it is hard to believe experts can’t seem to make this connection.

Not too many years ago, they had a movie that had a scene where young people went and lay in the middle of a busy road while cars passed on both sides. Do you think children looked at this and thought, Oh, this is staged, or do you think they acted it out? Anybody that lost a son or daughter in this fashion will tell you their children didn’t think it was staged. This is not the only movie or video game that children and some adults will act out whether the experts will admit it or not. Where do you think the ideas for playing Russian roulette or shoot-outs come from? There are many movies where the hero kills dozens of bad people and kids want to be the hero. The problem does not come from viewing the killing as reality. The problem comes from seeing the same hero in the next movie, killing the same bad guys. Can any of you experts see any potential for problems in this? What about the fact that the hero is killing the same bad guys? Don’t you think this gives a young mind the idea that death is not permanent for young people? No matter how the bad are killed, you just take them to the hospital and put them back together. Young minds think this is a real fact of life. They believe that death is only for the old.

I would say the reason for the rise in violence in our young is directly linked to what they see on television and in movies. They really can’t separate reality from entertainment. Young people see their favorite hero killing twenty-five bad guys in a movie, and then in the very next movie, the same hero is killing the same bad guys and the child wants to be the hero. Most children have actually seen death in person, but it almost always involves the death of an older relative and, therefore, only affects older people. This is really true for children because they look at people of thirty or more years as old. Children do not realize that a person of thirty may still have more than forty years to live. To young minds, all you need to do is take a young person to the hospital and everything will be all right. Remember in the sixties a common saying among young people was that you can’t trust anybody over thirty. Do you think they said this because they viewed thirty as still being young or that they thought over thirty was old?

What else do the psychology experts claim to be able to understand? It seems that the less experience they have in a particular field, the more they think they know about that aspect of life. If you don’t believe this, just take a look at the child psychology experts that claim they know the best way to raise children and then write books with the stupidest ideas that people will follow. The dumber an idea put forth by these experts are the more likely it will gain a following of people too stupid to raise children properly. Take a good look at the child psychology experts that give this advice for a price in the uncountable books they write. One thing that seems to be a requirement among these child-rearing experts is they never raised a child of their own and still claim they know the very best way to raise all those children out there. How could anyone be an expert in any field without practical experience? Why would any parent take advice from people that have no children of their own? In all this, it just gets worse for people. There is almost nothing that involves psychological well-being that these experts are not involved in some way. Even though America is a free country, it should be illegal for someone to write about a subject that they have no experience. Anyone claiming to be an expert should be required to have actual proof of their expertise. The same must be demanded of anyone claiming to be a Medal of Honor winner. This is actually very easy to confirm by contacting the Department of Defense as they keep a list of every Medal of Honor winner from the very first ever awarded to the last one ever awarded.

Of all the living organisms in the world, we like to portray ourselves as the most intelligent. This is hard to believe with all the instruction we need from other experts to do everything properly. Think about it, there is almost nothing we don’t need instruction for to perform properly. For being the most intelligent organism, we are probably the only one that needs to read a book to find a mate. Then we need a book to plan and get married. From here on, it just gets worse as we need a book to tell us the proper way to breed. After we get this accomplished, we need a book to correctly raise the fetus in the womb. Then we need to pick a name for the child of this union. Then it is time to raise the children, which was discussed earlier. We need books to learn proper etiquette; after all, we wouldn’t want to eat our soup improperly by using a fork. I don’t see how we can claim the title of most intelligent organism on the planet when we need so much instruction from psychologists that may never had any practical experience in that particular subject. This is what we will call normal living and keep the psychologist in business.

After being raised by all these psychology experts, we now need them to straighten out the mess they made of us by their flawed instructions. Now come the real problems as the experts now claim to be able to cure us and make good citizens out of psychologically messed-up individuals. Experts really like to showcase their successes of the criminals they have treated and are true successes. What these experts fail to tell is the large number of failures between each success. They don’t tell about failures because of the negative publicity it would generate and show what a failure the whole program really is. Could they have a successful program? Perhaps, but it is doubtful because they are working with the human mind and vanity, which makes a person lie to an examiner to gain favor. The chances for success are against the experts since they are unlikely to get at the whole truth about any individual. A cure of the mind is virtually impossible for anyone not being 100 percent truthful and that is not very good odds with 99.9 percent of people. Could you see a psychology expert trying to find a cure for a politician or criminal? There would be very little chance in either of these cases since neither group has a good grasp of truthfulness. It is more in the interest of criminals and politicians not to tell the whole truth about themselves. Just this makes it virtually impossible to make an accurate diagnosis of any individual and puts the examiner at a real disadvantage

Why do we follow some of the advice these experts claim is very good for us? They make claims for the best way to raise children when they have never raised their own. They tell us not to say no to a child because it will ruin the creative spirit. Do you really believe that, as a child, Thomas Edison’s parents never said no to him? Do you really think that Alexander Graham Bell never received corporal punishment as a child? Have psychology experts ever taken a good look at today’s society? It is hard to believe that none of the experts have not noticed that the more lenient we get while raising children, the more unruly they become. Children raised in the manner of the experts seem to be more likely to physically assault parents, grandparents, and other relatives. There actually used to be a time that the young people in our society respected older people whether they were relatives or not. Experts don’t seem to realize that the more lenient we get in raising children, the worse they become. Even so, there will be no admission of the wrongfulness of raising children without proper correction of bad behavior.

Years ago, we had state-run psychology hospitals, but most are now shut down. That is because of the poor treatment given and the chances were good that a patient would be worse coming out than when they entered. There is another problem here that isn’t addressed very often and that is we just put people in prison instead of getting them the real help they need. It has become easier to just store them in prison instead of treating the real problem. Because of advances made in psychology, there should be better hospitals to actually help the psychologically challenged people and maybe the experts would be helpful this time instead of just being prison guards.

Along with this is the fact that we removed corporal punishment from our schools because we feared our child was being picked on by certain teachers. If modern parents would raise their children properly, it would be one thing, but they don’t seem to think children need correction because of the books put out by psychologists that have never raised a child. With every generation, the idea of correcting children gets worse, and each successive generation get worse. If you don’t believe this to be a true statement, just look at our prison system and the overcrowding of the court system. With the way things are going, it isn’t hard to imagine it getting worse. I know it isn’t popular to look at any of this in my manner, but we have a much-higher incidence of homosexual activity and sexual assault on children. I don’t know if this is all being exposed because of more tolerance and investigation or because of lax child correction.

    Chapter 3

    Modern Political Experts

Are there really any political experts worth listening to these days? It hardly seems as if any of them really know what they are talking about or if they can give us any real insight. In the 2008 political season, the experts all act as if they are completely lost and can’t get their bearings in the political arena. Experts weren’t able to pick the eventual presidential candidates at the start of the primary season. This is probably because of their expertise at being able to tell what the American people really wanted. They all think the candidates are able but keep it in the forefront that Obama is too young and inexperienced for the presidency. McCain is considered too old and a Washington insider.

When you are considering a candidate for president, don’t forget that the most experienced presidents have been the worst presidents we ever had. The presidents with the least experience going into the White House seem to have been the best leaders we ever had. For experience before becoming president, two of the worst were James Buchanan and Richard Nixon, both of whom had over twenty years’ experience in government before being elected president. Richard Nixon actually had eight years in the White House as vice president and was forced to resign as president for criminal activity while in office. Two of the men with the least experience in government were self-educated and had less than two years in the government. Both Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln only served part of their term in congress before being elected president. Experts of the modern-day politics claim experience is so important as to disqualify anyone without experience and the presidency is no place for on-the-job training. Where do experts think this experience is going to come from before entering the White House? Most of these so-called political experts have no real experience as a politician themselves and really don’t know what an elected office is about since few, if any, have ever held an elected office. What makes any of these self-proclaimed experts make any of the claims they supposedly know so much about? In order for most of us mere mortals we actually have to have practical experience before we can take a job while anyone that has taken a political science coarse in college can claim to be a political expert.

Another thing our political experts lay claim to is the need of politicians to be experienced before they are qualified to become a congressperson, senator, or president. Just where is it that our political experts think it is that politicians are going to get this experience prior to going into any elected office? As I showed earlier in this chapter, it is highly dubious that governmental experience is likely to make a better president. As a matter of fact, the statistics seem to show that the less experience the better it is for us and our presidents. The idea that a person needs experience before going into the White House is a truly ridiculous thought since there is no practical training course for the presidency, and no previous president has found it necessary to aid the new president in their new functions. There has never been a first-term president that entered the presidency with any experience since there is no practical way for anyone to be trained in advance of assuming the presidency. Experts seem not to notice this fact or that there is no way for anyone to have the so-called experience to become president, and therefore, there is nobody we should be electing until we have an actual training program for the presidency.

Do any of you ever watch politicians in action? Have you noticed that congresspersons and senators actually work for the interests of us in their first term in office? The more experience a politician gets, the less they work for us, and the more they want to help the highest paid people and companies in the country. Everybody thinks politicians should have term limits placed on them, with one big exception and that is politicians. Do you really think these crooks are going to place term limits on their own cushy jobs? You have term limits every November when you go in the polling booth. It always amazes me that the politicians always want to cut taxes for the rich by claiming how many jobs it will create if they just had a little more money so they could afford to hire more people. Recently, they wanted to extend tax cuts for the rich by claiming how much the rich would be able to hire more but were uncertain since they didn’t know if their tax breaks would continue. Where are all the jobs this ten-year-old tax break created? For ten years, the rich have had their tax break, and the number of jobs created in this time was just over a million and everything crashed. Now if their tax break is continued, they will suddenly be able to create jobs they couldn’t find for the last ten years. During the Clinton presidency, there were no tax breaks for the rich, and the economy grew and most people were doing quite well, and then they got their tax break under George W. Bush and the economy stagnated and then crashed. The claim is that if the Bush tax break for the rich is allowed to expire, we can all expect higher taxes. How many of us are making over a million dollars a year? It seems nobody understands that the tax break for the rich isn’t going to affect them, but they are scared into believing they are the rich targeted by these tax increases.

Modern experts have to spread lies about their opponent no matter whether there is any basis in fact. The real problem here is with the people doing the voting who do not check for the actual truth in these claims. It is no longer he said or she said. It is now not that they just listened to any person. Now they hold that person’s opinions and beliefs. If this is true, that means every person you ever talked to or listened to, then you absolutely hold their opinions as your own with no disagreement. How stupid is this idea that has been put forward and accepted as fact? In your own terms of this belief means that you accept as your own opinion everything your preacher
