    Another Fantasia - Nicholas L

    Death

New York, the Metropolitan Opera Theatre.

A huge crowd was forming outside, waiting to enter the theatre. At that moment, a young teen was walking towards the entrance, he had a pair of red eyes, with shiny grey long hair hanging across his face.

Brandon!, someone suddenly called him. In this moment, Brandon holds for a second, and then got a tiny smile light on his face. He turned around, looking at the beautiful girl who just called him.

Hi, Catherine, Brandon called and looked at the girl. She was around five foot eight tall, with long beautiful black hair reaching all the way down to her waist, and a pair of deep blue eyes that seemed to always be communicating with you.

I heard you delayed the concert for two weeks, were you not feeling well?, Catherine worried.

Nothing to worry about, I just needed a little relaxing before putting up this great performance show to the audience., Brandon said.

This is too easy for you, Brandon, you are the youngest, greatest musician, pianist, violinist of the 21st century, no one else! Catherine said this, full of excitement.

Don’t make fun of me, you know all I know is music, nothing else. Besides, this performance is the only way to save the Orphan house. Brandon smiled with sorrow.

Sorry, Brandon! I heard the government is going to move Sister Alice and the children to somewhere else., Catherine said.

It’s okay, don’t worry! I will make the performance perfect as usual, and the money we make should be enough to be able to cover their cost of living as they get older. Anyway, I should get ready for the start., Brandon said.

I will sit at the best spot in the front row then, Sister Alice and the kids are coming too. Catherine also smiled.

As they both started walking through the entrance, the people from the crowd were also lining up, showing their tickets for the security check.

There was also a group of kids watched over by a mid-aged lady. Holding hands, they were slowly walking towards the hall.

One of the security officers noticed them; it was the group which Brandon had told him about. He quickly invited Sister Alice and the kids to go through the entrance and lead them where they were going to be seated.

On the other side, Brandon walked into his waiting room. He sat down and waited for the start of the performance. As he was just about to go and grab a coffee, he suddenly had to bend over in pain. He started to cough like crazy.

After a while, he stopped coughing and looked at his right hand, which had covered his mouth. A long red line of blood was dripping through his right hand, down to the elbow and onto the floor.

Brandon calmly went through his pockets and got his bottle of medicine out. He took two red tablets and put them into his mouth.

Brandon slowly breathed in, swallowed, and said:

Sigh, lucky I asked the doctor to give me three weeks' worth of medicine. These should hopefully last me through the concert. I want to raise enough money today., Brandon’s face had turned a pale color.

It’s ready, Brandon!, one of the workers said.

Brandon slowly walked his way from the back to the grand piano standing at the center of the stage.

While he was walking his way to the piano, everyone stood up to applause and welcome Brandon as one of the greatest, yet youngest classical musicians of the 21st century.

Once Brandon sat down on the piano chair, he waited till the applause stopped and everyone sat back.

He began with Sonata No.17 in B flat Major, by Mozart. As he played along, the rhythm was
