Attila closed their new, plain white refrigerator door with an air of decision that bode ill for Kai’s plans for the night.

I don’t see why we couldn’t join Tibor and Rita at Terra Terra. His voice brimmed with a  stubborn and petulant attitude, one which Kai didn’t see very often. The small, round table of the eat-in kitchen of Attila’s modest bungalow was a perfectly lovely space, and the refrigerator teemed with leftovers.  But yes, his plans to eat more leftovers and study while running up to the barn and taking care of horses wouldn’t hold up to Attila’s unusual decision to go out and be social.

Attila wasn’t social very often, so this should’ve been a gift for the more extroverted Kai, for whom happy conversations with perfect strangers were the life-blood of his existence.
