    1. Birth of Ganesha

As you may be aware , Hinduism is a religion like Christianity, Islam etc. It is a religion being followed in many parts of the world and primarily in India.

God is one. But to personify the various powers of God, Hindu mythology mentions a number of gods and goddesses. Shiva is one such god. Parvathy is his spouse. They have two sons. The elder one is known as Ganesha and the younger one is called Karthikeya. They live in a mountain known as Kailash. It is a mountain somewhere in the universe. No one has seen this mountain.

Ganesha is a cute little god. Before I come to the main story, I will tell you a little bit of interesting information about him because he is one of the primary characters of this story.

Ganesha has got an elephant face and a pot belly. He has two wives. They are known as Siddhi and Buddhi. There is an anecdote to indicate as to how he got his elephant face.

Well. It was a time when Shiva and Parvathi used to live alone in their house at Kailash. The children were not born and Shiva did not keep any servants at home. It was the practice of Shiva to go to the forest early in the morning. He used to remain there doing meditation
