About this ebook

As Jamie travels the world in search of fulfillment, she arrives in Majorca the day before Halloween. Almost immediately, she realizes all is not what it seems. There are no tourists, and everyone is just a bit -- different. She meets a local tattooist named Carlito. The attraction is instantaneous and intense. He makes her an unbelievable offer. But whether it means heaven or horror, she is not sure. When the Eve of All Hallows meets All Saints Day only Fate can decide the outcome.

It’s unusually hot for so late in October.

That is what the owner of the villa tells me as he hands me the keys and takes my passport for what he calls an ‘overnight police check’, a normal occurrence in Majorca and other European countries. I’d experienced this practice while in Spain, a few months earlier, so I’m not concerned. The police come to the hotel during the night and do a check on all the visitors to be sure no one is wanted by the law.

His English is excellent, but after traveling through Europe the last several months, trying to ‘find’ myself, if that is even the right word, I’ve learned to get along in my native English tongue without the benefit of knowing other countries’ dialects.

I can’t put a date on when my actual discontent started. I think the final straw…or maybe it’s the final nail in the coffin, came when my Grandma Jade, who had raised me since I was a baby, passed away. I’m not one of those people who cry and moan about never knowing her parents. I’ve had a reasonably comfortable life, but I still remain…unsatisfied; still searching for the piece or pieces to make me whole. I often wonder as I see happy couples with the children if there is something wrong with me. Perhaps I am one of those women who is meant to live a single, solitary life.

After Grandma Jade died, I inherited a sizeable estate, which allowed me to take this extended vacation. As it often happens when money is involved, long lost relatives came out of the woodwork. Long forgotten lovers emerged proclaiming eternal devotion. Fair-weather friends turned up asking what’s new.

    As if they didn’t know.

They all had one thing in
