Introduction

The world is full of prophets today.  It is an exceptional time in the life of the church.  In the book of Joel, The Bible declares in the last days, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and sons and daughters shall prophesy.

Prophets come from every walk of life.  There is great diversity in the prophetic genre.

Gone is the day of the lone prophet.  I doubt there ever was such a time.  Now is the day of emerging prophetic companies.

The age of the Eli church has ended and now is the time of the Elijahs and the Samuels. The sons of the prophets and the young prophets are now coming forth. Both male and female. The young, the old, the rich, and the less affluent. From every nation from every tribe, God is calling forth a multitude of prophets. He is calling forth companies of prophets.

So how does this affect you? It affects you much in every way.  Prophets are a gift to the church and the world.  The role of the prophet is to be a blessing.  Also, the emergence of the 21st-century prophet is a sign of the times. So many prophetic people is a sign of great difficulties ahead and great times of blessing.

Prophets bring blessings with them.  The purpose of the prophetic is to bless. In the coming years, you will see more and more of God’s prophets coming to the forefront of the church and ministry. Some great advancements in the world will come from the work of the prophets.

CHAPTER ONE

THE ROLE OF THE PROPHET

One of the biggest roles of the prophet today is the role of bringing forth new revelation.  This is not to say that prophets are bringing forth any new scriptures. The bible is complete in all of its fullness of the wisdom of God.

However, the prophet’s job is to bring forth new understandings of the scriptures. New enlightenment, and new revelation.

This is a new day.  The world needs a fresh word.  The prophets are a fountain of freshwaters for the soul of the church.  So new revelation and fresh understanding of doctrine is part of the function of the 21st-century prophet.

The Prophets and Confrontation

The prophets are called to confront on several levels.  The prophet confronts the sins of the people.  Prophets confront the powers of darkness. Prophets confront false doctrines and ministries.
