About this ebook

A complete guide for everything you need to experience a great Long Weekend in Cannes, one of the jewels of the French Riviera. You don’t have to go to Cannes in May during the Film Festival (it’s impossible to get rooms anyway). Cannes is as good in winter as it is in summer. (Even Cary Grant and Grace Kelly enjoyed it off season.)

“We couldn’t believe the beauty of this place, especially as seen from the hill above Cannes looking down from an 11th Century tower of an old medieval castle, something we never would have thought to see without reading it in this guide.” ---Ashley H., Fairfield

“We enjoyed visiting the little restaurants we found in this guide that took us to the side streets—away from tourists—we got to see how the locals live.” ---Giselle M., Dover

You'll save a lot of time using this concise guide.
=LODGINGS (throughout the area) variously priced
=FINE & BUDGET RESTAURANTS, more than enough listings to give you a sense of the variety to be found.
=PRINCIPAL ATTRACTIONS -- don't waste your precious time on the lesser ones. We've done all the work for you.

=A handful of interesting shopping ideas.

    Chapter 1

    WHY CANNES?

Although people associate Cannes with the film festival that takes place here every May, a good thing to remember about Cannes is that this is perhaps the one month you’ll want to avoid the city.

Either way, it’s one of the jewels of the Riviera and has to be seen once in your life.

It’s as much fun in winter as in summer, in spring as in fall. Every time I visit (I’m in the movie business also, so it’s usually in May that I’m there), I wonder what I’m doing living somewhere else when this place is available. There’s just nothing like
