Before we go into your next steps, I invite you to pause right now and celebrate the freakin’ fantastic accomplishment of having written a book! Most authors I know tend to focus on the now what
and forget to celebrate each step of the process. And, having kept your commitment to getting your book written is worthy of celebration. So, cheers!
Now the bad news. What you’ve written is the first draft—the first of many drafts. Don’t be discouraged—you’re among the greats—like Hemingway, Wolfe, Shakespeare—who loved revision. Why? Think of it this way: your first draft is the raw marble block from which you, like Michaelangelo, will care a beautiful piece of art. While the marble itself is striking, it can’t compare to the final product.
