About this ebook

What appears to be a peaceful spot from above, turns out to be quite different on the ground. In “Wolf in the New Azores” the pilot lands on an island group in conflict. It becomes clear: Mother Nature spun a web and entrapped them all! While Wolf looks for food with respect, things get pretty heated over here. A war rages between West and East, and Islanders would rather waste food than share it!

Leen Lefebre

Leen Lefebre grew up in West Flanders where she works at the Local Heritage Service. As a kid, she threw herself upon each book that was available. Later, she turned around and settled on the worldwide web. She then emerged as a true explorer of literature, music, and sports. Leen is a dreamer and a doer – and this is how her stories rose up as charming and lively fairy tales for adventurers of all ages. Leen is dromer én doener. Zo zijn ook al haar boeken ontstaan: verhalen voor avonturiers – jong en oud.

    MISSION #6

    Wolf in the New Azores

Never had he seen Winter in such a sunny state of mind, as back then. After their Council’s approval, this pure and clean natural water gave rise to a feast among the locals!

Their Village President personally saw to it that the Madeiran souvenirs were distributed fairly and consumed sparingly. The last thing he wanted to unleash or feed in a now peaceful place, were two beasts called Envy and Greed. Anyone would agree; one enemy did suffice!

With a human-powered crane, Linden’s workers pulled up the last lengthy metal rods. Storm’s welders stood atop a scaffold, in order to close the skeleton of the dome. The villagers put the finishing touches to a huge construction; the greenhouse covered the entire field.

Linden was cheerful. According to her, little could go wrong. Soon the glass plates would wrap the carcass like a skin spans bones. It was but a matter of time.

Storm stared ahead – pondering. The corners of his mouth pointed sadly downwards.

Storm? Wolf waved his hand faster and faster in front of him, to draw the man’s attention to the present.

Storm desperately shook his head. His mouse-grey eyes were dull. His head felt as if it’s clouded with debris. I have all the pieces of the puzzle but I can’t find the glue. You see, I’m stuck. I can’t think clearly anymore. Wolfie, the whole project is lost!

Oh Master, Wolf brushed aside the pessimism by making fun of him, you’ve got a problem for each solution! Just focus on what does work. You expect too much of you; let it go! It must come naturally.

He put his hand on Storm’s shoulder. You’ll figure it out, he said because he’s very convinced that his hero would come up with a plan somehow. Patience is a virtue, he stole Winter’s wise words.

That sentence conjured up a grin on Storm’s face, Hear, hear! He joked, So says the one who’s the epitome of impatience!

Wolf felt the relief conquering his body as Storm’s face brightened. His smile stretched from ear to ear, but his visor pierced Storm’s soul. Maybe, he said, you need to retreat – just for a while.

    Storm seemed surprised. Huh?

Here in the village centre, you must feel a lot of pressure from the others too, Wolf clarified. Your mind cannot flourish like that!

Storm gave a nod. Your missions have definitely broadened your view of the world, Chosen One. He stroked his goatee, Well, I plead guilty – I locked myself up in that shed far too long, didn’t I? and he continued, If I want a different result, then I’ll have to replant myself somewhere else... like the Frupons.

Wolf added, "On the other hand, in the heart of the village you are at the source. This outdoor fire creates light and heat for the seedlings to grow, and our dumpsite is ideal to invent something. I guess: if the Madeiran levadas carry water, our cranes lift earth, and Rover moves air, then my hero
