Now that wormhole space travel is mastered, a special organization, called, Space Planetary Recognizance, is formed to disperse recognizance teams all over the galaxy. Each of the twenty teams, during a three year period, is sent to visit and catalog several planets found by the space telescope, Copernicus.

Marsell Morris

Marsell was born in Detroit Michigan in the year of... well, a good while ago. After graduating from Cass Technical High School, Marsell went to work for the Chrysler Corporation as a conveyor loader. Shortly after beginning his employment with Chrysler, he married, and fathered three children. Thirty-one years later, and after having gained the position of production supervisor, he retired at fifty. After retiring, he began playing golf everyday and all day. Having lowered his handicap to near scratch, and winning a tournament at even par, and behind a debilitating injury, he was unable to continue playing. He had a lot of free time on his hands, whereupon, he took up writing as a hobby and time killer and discovered he had talent for spinning a yarn. After pounding out eleven urban fictions, covering everything from drug use, prostitution, gang crime, murder, and romance/erotica, and having always been a science fiction fan from his teenage years, he thought he’d try his hand at writing a Sci-Fi tail, which culminated in his first work “Alien Plot - First Contact” now retitled "Alien Offensive - Nanobot Storm" and its four sequels, and which, at one time before he ran into problems with its publisher, was considered good fodder for production as a movie, not because he is such a great writer, but because of its unique, previously unexplored, plot.He still lives in Detroit, and being a compulsive writer, he spends most of his time wearing out his fourth keyboard replacement, while pursuing what he loves doing — writing more tails with unique story lines.

    Chapter 1

Come on, Ralph. Will you quit the clowning around before you get us both killed? We’re in an asteroid field for crying out loud. Gabe comes into the cockpit to sit next to Ralph and look through the forward port to see several very larger asteroids in the path of the, Galileo, Recognizance Ship, Number Eighteen.

Christ, Gabe, will you stop being such a stick in the mud. I’ve got the inertial damping set to maximum. I’ve got this. He waits until the last moment, before colliding with one of the bigger asteroids, to flip the ship on its side, and like a wheel, roll the ship around the encroaching obstruction. Hell, I get bored just finding dead worlds, catalog them, and then move on. Take the last planet we visited. It was nothing but water everywhere. Nothing but a big ass oceans, and I wanted to take a swim, but would you let me — hell no. You said the waves were too large and I might drown. Can I ever have a little fun?

I don’t have a problem with you having a little fun, but not if it will put our lives in danger like what you’re doing now. Gabe grips the armrest of his couch as Ralph pulls another stunt. Just when Gabe thinks the ship will hit the next asteroid for sure, Ralph turns the stern of the ship toward the asteroid, and while revving the dark energy engines to maximum thrust, flips the ship, stern over bow, over the top of the asteroid. He then sets the ship into a flat spin while dropping down under the next.

Yahoo! Ralph, yells, as the ship nearly crashes into another asteroid while passing close enough to scrape some of the paint off the hull.

That does it, Gabe, says, Give me the controls.

Go ahead. I’m tired anyway. I’m going to the galley and get something to eat. You coming?

Yeah, I guess so. Hold on a moment while I program the autopilot to get us out of this damn asteroid field… Okay that should do it. Let’s go.

As the men sit at a table in the galley, Ralph, ask, What’s our next stop? Some dead planet orbiting a red dwarf star?

No, some rock orbiting a class B star. Recon Control sent the coordinates last night while we slept. From what I understand, we’ll have to make a wormhole to get there. We’ll get on it after we eat and I take a dump.

Will it ever end? We’ve been out here for two years, and it’s really not my thing, says, Ralph, as he gets up to place his empty ration container in the disintegrator.

Well, why the hell did you join the recon force in the first place. What did you think we’d be doing out here? Gabe follows Ralph to the disintegrator.

I don’t know. Maybe, do some real life exploring, I guess? Maybe, run into some kind of alien life, or something?

Well, I can’t be sure, but I wouldn’t give up on that wish. We’ll be out here another year and who knows what we’ll run into.

Yeah, yeah, but can you tell me why Control wouldn’t let us bring a couple women with us? Hell, we ain’t doing nothing dangerous. A couple of babes would help the time go bye.

Come on Ralph, will you stop complaining. You know the answer to that as well as I do.

    "Yeah, I know. It’s
