The First and the Last - Lynda Flett

Lynda Flett has prepared an excellent biblical overview of end-time events. She is to be commended for her work. It will immensely benefit anyone well-versed in eschatology as well as the newest student in the field.

    —Jim Barber,

Host and speaker, Faith To Live By/Hearts To Believe Radio

Since 1947, the doomsday clock has tracked humanity’s movement toward extinction. Looking at political, technological, climatic, and nuclear realities, the doomsday clock for 2020 was set to one hundred seconds to midnight. Lynda Flett echoes the dire warnings from a dispensational, futurist point of view. She shows the nearing of midnight in the advance of Israel, the third temple, and the hope and joy for believers in the coming rapture of the church.

I would like to thank my husband for encouraging me to write this book. During the past year, he has patiently listened while I enthusiastically explained all my new discoveries. He then quietly bided his time through the endless silence while I studied and wrote. His guidance and prayers have greatly assisted me through this process.

    Introduction

This book is born out of an overwhelming conviction that the world is nearing midnight. People who study prophecy believe we are not only living in the last days, but many believe we are living in the last hours.

Those in error would tell us that this world is evolving into some sort of one world utopia governed by man. One of my primary goals is to warn the church of the lies of the secular media, which seeks to brainwash the public by calling evil good and good evil.

As I study the Christian church today, I am greatly alarmed by the amount of error and false teaching that is being taught by preachers in pulpits. Today more than ever we need to be like the Berean Church during the days of the Apostle Paul and ensure that truth is being communicated. The Bereans tested all they were taught through the lens of scripture.

There is a rush by various leaders and governments towards globalization—a one-world government, a one-world economy, and a one-world religion. Pope Francis is in a rush to bind all faiths together and Neo-Nazism is rearing its head in an unprecedented way around the world. Europe is preparing the way for the Antichrist; they are basically leaderless at this time, obsessed by the occult. Many hate Israel, and most of its leaders are globalists.

A number of church leaders are striving to be accepted by all faiths. These leaders care more about unifying religions than following sound biblical doctrine.

I have based my studies on the written Word of God, as well as sermons and books from those who have strong and legitimate ministries, as well as sound written documentation. I do not wish to sensationalize any of what I write but to simply elaborate on what I have found in my hundreds of hours of study.

I continually keep my eye on Jerusalem and Israel. Events are changing at a rapid pace and it’s challenging to keep up with the latest occurrences. Please understand that throughout this document Muslims are portrayed as enemies being used by Satan. However, these are God’s created peoples and many Christians are reaching out to them and earnestly praying for their salvation.

How do we, as Christians, react to these times? It is important that we, the church of Jesus Christ, stand in the gap and be watchmen on the wall (Isaiah 62:6). It is incumbent on us to blow the trumpet, to eschew silence, and to warn people.

Now, not all end-time events may happen exactly as prophecy watchers speculate, but all of these prophecies are backed by scripture The Bible clearly warns of things to come. God has His plan and the Creator of the universe is a God of grace who opens the heart of mere men to understand the future of mankind.

Unfortunately, a great majority of pastors are not preaching prophecy from the pulpit. They may not have the time to study prophecy and may be afraid to mislead their flock. I can understand the difficulties pastors may have with this, considering the differences of opinion on eschatology. However, if there is some communication with the flock about the events that lie ahead, it can begin to pave the way for Christians to pray accordingly and inform their loved ones and a lost world that there is a great hope—and His name is Jesus Christ.

    He is coming soon.

    Chapter One:

Signs that We Are in the Last Days

More than one-quarter of the Bible is comprised of prophecy. If we were to remove prophecy from the Bible, it would fall apart. God gives us so much light in His word to warn us of the things to come. He has not left us without a footprint and a guide to follow.

The Bible clearly states that only the Father knows the date of the end, as is written in Matthew 24:36: But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

When we face times of sickness, trouble, and tribulation, we can remind ourselves that we are strangers here on the earth. We’re only passing through. Romans 8:18 says, For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Many suffering saints cling closely to this promise.

For we, as born-again Christians, should look forward with joy to seeing Jesus face to face and being with Him forever.

As we look at the signs of His coming, we compare them with what the Bible says. Many, many past and current events point toward Christ soon returning for his church.

One of the greatest signs of the end times is the exponential increase of technology in the world. When Christ returns, Revelation 1:7 says, Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him In past decades, biblical scholars believed by faith that this would happen, but they couldn’t fathom how this would occur. What do we have today that they didn’t have back then? We now have satellites and the internet; even those in the poorest of countries have computers and cell phones and televisions through which they can access news immediately by satellite.

We also look at the signs of society. Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:1–4:

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers,
