Other poems were inspired by the author’s visits with her friends, Tim and Debbie, who live in Huntsville, Alabama. Miss Hooper also reflects on life experiences as diverse as riding a children’s train at a local ice cream store and attending Evensong in King’s College Chapel at Cambridge, England. Finally, Miss Hooper offers her views on a variety of topics including making peace, celebrity worship, and the use of words.

Carrie Hooper

Carrie Hooper was born and raised in Elmira, New York. She received a Bachelor’s degree in music performance from Mansfield University and Master’s degrees in German and vocal performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She studied one year at the Royal University College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden as a Fulbright Scholar. Carrie taught German, Italian, and Romanian between 2002 and 2019 at Elmira College (Elmira, New York). She teaches voice and piano lessons, sings in a local chorus, gives vocal concerts, and plays the piano and organ at a church. She has published two collections of poetry and has translated a book, articles, and short stories from Albanian and Romanian into English.

    Carrie Hooper at the Reed Organ

    Carrie Hooper was born and raised in Elmira, New York. She has been blind since birth. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal performance from Mansfield University, Mansfield, Pennsylvania. She went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in German and a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After completing her studies, she spent a year at the Royal University College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, as a Fulbright scholar..

    Carrie currently lives in Elmira. She taught German and Italian at Elmira College. She has a passion for foreign languages and is proficient in German, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Albanian, and Romanian. Music plays an important role in Carrie's life, too. She teaches voice and piano lessons at a studio, gives vocal concerts, plays the piano at an Episcopal church, and sings in Common Time, a community chorus based in
