    A VISIT

    It was Anya's first visit to Granny's big house. Mummy had shown her pictures of the rooms, in them were strange things she had never seen in Wimbledon.

    Granny and Grandad had lived for a long time in the Far East. She didn't know where the Far East was. Mummy said it was a long way from Wimbledon.

    Mummy opened the car door. She undid Anya's seat belt and picked up baby brother Myles. Anya climbed out and held Grandad's hand.

    'Don't forget Panda Bear,' said Granny, putting a small grey animal in her hand, 'I'll bring Dora.' Dora was the water bottle.

    'That's Ponda Bear,' said Anya.

    Tucking the bear under her arm Anya rushed into the house. She wanted to say 'hello' to all the strange things.

    In the lounge she saw two dolls. They had curved swords stuck in their belts, one long and one short.

    'Why do you have sharp things?' asked Anya. 'Mummy says knives are dangerous.'

    'Little child,' said the old one, 'we are warriors from Japan. Don't we frighten you?'

    'Oh, no,' said Anya, 'you're not as big as my brother.'
