About this ebook

Welcome to Dark Moon Falls ... where everything is not as it seems. It has secrets, shifters, romance, villains and so much more.

Ghost has been living the life of a nomad. A Lone Wolf. Riding his Harley, picking up odd jobs, and stopping only long enough to lay his head somewhere for the night. But life on the road is no longer as appealing as it used to be and he’s ready to settle down, find a mate, and begin the next chapter of his life.

Dark Moon Falls seems like a great place to do just that.

Mackenzie was born and raised in Dark Moon Falls, but ever since her ex-husband landed in jail based off of her testimony, she’s become a pariah to the shifters in town. Which is fine with Mac, because after being left to raise her son alone, she doesn’t have much faith in them either.

Ghost and Mac are two lonely souls, until fate finally intervenes and puts them in each other’s paths... But will they accept the gift of each other, or are they both two stubborn to see what’s right in front of them?

    Prologue

I drove down the long dark highway, the wind whipping and my Harley vibrating beneath me.

    This was freedom.

I’d always been a lone wolf… constantly on the move and taking jobs wherever I could get them. It didn’t matter the task, I was a man who could get things done quickly and quietly, without being seen.

A man of my talents, I had no problem finding work, but as the years went on, I found myself yearning for something more.

Something I’d never wanted… A pack. A mate. A place to put down roots.

After what felt like a lifetime of living out of a bag and roaming like a nomad, I was ready to have a touchstone. Somewhere to return to when the road got too long, and I grew weary of staying at the next motel.

    A home.

That’s why I was currently pointed in the direction of Dark Moon Falls.

I’d heard of it numerous times during my travels. A town where shifters roamed freely and lived among humans.

A few of my buddies had settled there, and I’d met some members of the pack over the years, including their Alpha, Elias Grant, who was cool as a cucumber, and had the respect of not only his pack, but the entire town.

Although I knew I’d never fully get the need to ride out of my blood, Dark Moon Falls seemed like a good place to settle down and begin this new phase of my life.

Hey Mac, the school’s on the phone.

I let out a frustrated sigh and tossed my wrench into my toolbox.

This was the third call in five days from my son’s school. Ever since puberty hit, he’d been in a constant state of upheaval… the combination of hormones, uncertainty about where he fit in, and the absence of his father, had turned my sweet little boy into a hellion who was in trouble more than he was out of it.

I didn’t know if he would survive it.

Thanks, Drake, I called, wiping my hands on a rag as I marched to the back office.

Drake was my boss and the owner of Drake’s Auto, the best and only, shop in Dark Moon falls.

He’d taken pity on me when my ex had left me for his true mate, and I’d been stuck raising our then toddler boy. At first Drake had been unsure about hiring a woman for anything other than office work, but when I’d shown him how I’d restored my classic ’57 T-Bird and proved I could rebuild an engine, he’d put me on the staff.

This is Kellan’s mom, I said, shooting Drake a smile as I turned to face the wall.

I hate to break it to you, Mac, but Kellan has detention again today. I figured I’d better call and let you know, since he has to stay after school two hours this time.

I sighed and asked, What’d he do, Sara?

He spray painted the wall in the boys bathroom, the Middle School Vice Principle replied. So, he’ll be spending the afternoon painting over it.

I’m so sorry, I’ll have a talk with him tonight. Thanks for the call.

Of course. Have a good day, Mac.

I nodded, too angry to verbally reply, and put the phone back in its cradle.

Yes, Drake’s was the kind of shop that not only still had a landline, but a water cooler in the corner, a stack of newspapers in the lobby, and a pin-up calendar hanging next to his desk. We had to keep our cell phones locked away while at work, so we didn’t have the distraction and our focus would be on the job.

It had taken some getting used to, but everyone in town knew if they needed to get ahold of me during my shift, to call Drake’s.

    Kellan still raisin’ hell?

I shifted to face Drake and frowned.

Well, I know you don’t wanna hear it, but this too shall pass. It’s a phase that all boys go through, and unfortunately, he’s got a double whammy with not only changing from boy to man, but to wolf. That means double the confusion and mass amounts of growing pains and uncontrollable energy flowing through his young body. Every one reacts differently to the change, but it’s always a rough time.

I nodded and gave a half shrug, because although I knew my son was going through a hard time, and I could empathize with how hard this transition must be, as a woman, and a human, it wasn’t something I’d ever had to deal with.

I know, I just wish he’d channel his aggression into something other than vandalizing school property and getting himself in trouble constantly.

Drake snorted and said, He’ll figure it out. Have you thought about taking him to see his father?

My blood ran cold at the thought and I said, No, a little too sharply.

Kellan’s dad, my ex, was currently sitting in prison after I’d sent him there.

I get it, but he needs someone he can talk to about this stuff, Drake replied.

Drake was human, like me, and had also been born and raised in Dark Moon Falls. Still, although being here our entire lives meant we were used to shifters and had grown up with them, there was still
