About this ebook

Viv and her husband endured a bitter divorce, and as those things go, the family is forced to adjust to a new life. Viv and her daughter Traci soon left their nice suburban surroundings and moved to an 'economy' apartment in the bad end of the city.

Traci changed schools and became the target of a rather nasty bully, Donna, who loved tormenting Traci. Unaccustomed to such behavior in the suburbs, Traci spirals into a serious depression. Luckily, she finds a friend in one of her neighbors, Sherry and learns that lesbian love can be beautiful way to curb depression.

Meanwhile, Viv must learn to use creative methods to make ends meet on their meager income. She makes a deal with Max the apartment manager to pay the rent in a more creative way. More along the lines of the barter system. Max, spurred by her own passions, and fetishes, is more than willing to go along with Viv's proposal and it takes some of the pressure from Viv and Traci. But the degradation of the payment method doesn't sit well with Viv. And even more so when Traci learns how Viv is paying the rent.

Additionally, that still leaves Traci with the bully girl and what to do about her. Using some creative thinking she finds a solution to her problem and even to her mother's. She just needs to make a strategic introduction, of Max to Donna.

    Chapter One

My realm was twisted upside-down amid the ages of eighteen and nineteen. We had been pretty much of an ordinary suburban family. My father was a policeman, my mother, Vivian or Viv, was a stay at home mom, and I was their only child. My name is Traci. Then my father knocked up an under aged street walker. He had to ask Mom for a divorce so that he could marry the girl to prevent a statutory rape charge.

By the time, the settlement was over, Mother and I had to take a step down the social ladder. We had to move out of the only home I had ever known. It was a middle class ranch house, where all of the houses were on lots that were 80 feet wide and 175 feet deep. It was a traumatic experience to leave a comfortable home in the suburbs and move to an inner-city apartment building. The move required me to change schools. I had to leave my friends that I had grown up with. I tried to keep in touch with them but it didn't last long.

I had been with my mother when she was looking for a place to live. Mom had found the listing in the neighborhood newspaper. When we pulled up in front of the place I was struck by the name of the apartment building, `The Vandyke Domain Apartments.'

When we approached the manager's office I was more than a little squeamish by the way the woman looked at me, and her physical appearance. She introduced herself as Maxine Lake. She was not only dressed more like a man than a woman, she looked mannish too. Her dark hair was cropped and combed into a pompadour. She had a round full face with a wide nose over a visible mustache. She was a little overweight, but she must have had very large breasts under her flannel work shirt. She also had on blue jeans and gum soled work boots.

When Mom explained why she was looking for a place for us, the woman explained that she normally required referrals from people she knew. While she was looking at me like a cat looks at a bird on the ground. There was some pleading on my mother's part before Maxine agreed to show us the only two bedroom apartment vacant at the time.

The woman asked Mom to go into the office and make the rental arrangements. I was told I couldn't go with my Mom. They were in the office for about fifteen minutes, I heard my mother shout at the woman, something I could not make out. Then the woman laughed. Then the two walked out of the office shaking hands and the building super smiling from ear to ear. Mom looking very somber.

    ***

We took a quick look around the place and it was very informative. The apartment building was laid out in a square with the side facing south having two stories. A quick count of the doors revealed that there were twenty apartments. In the middle of the square was a swimming pool with a
