Diana Hunter

Diana Hunter became interested in writing stories with bondage and D/s themes when she found a dearth of them on the web. Nothing she read seemed to have the romantic element she knew was possible in such relationships. Challenged by a friend to write a better one, she wrote her first full-length novel, Secret Submission. Each book Diana writes contains a kernel of truth or deeply held conviction from her own life, but don’t ask her where truth ends and fantasy begins...she’ll never tell! When not writing, Diana is usually at her loom, weaving thread lines of a different sort. Married for over thirty years to the same man, she is grateful for all the wonderful encouragement he gives her.

    The Problem

I wish your Uncle Irv was still alive. He had the best stuff at the best prices.

Phillip Townshend nodded his agreement toward his best friend, Will Danton, as they waited for the light to change. Phillip drove and Will sat shotgun. Both men had been friends for nearly as long as they could remember. Now in their late forties, they had no secrets between them.

The light changed and Phillip turned the wheel, driving the Saturn into the parking lot of a fancy new strip mall. A few trees lined the median, the decorative kind that would bloom in the spring. Soon, however, they’d drop those leaves as autumn moved to winter. Already a few cowardly ones had turned brown, wanting to escape the colder weather that would arrive in a few more weeks.

A large chain supermarket anchored one end of the strip with another national chain clothing store at the other. In between lay offerings that could be found in any city in the United States. Only three of the plaza’s storefronts were one of a kinds, locally owned and operated. Dragon Jewelry was one of them and Phillip parked in front of it.

You and me both, man. I want to get something special for Sarah and he would’ve known exactly what to design.

Well, I’m hearing good things about this place.

The large window display didn’t look promising. The next Tolkien movie was due out soon and the entire window looked like it belonged in Middle Earth. Phillip caught his own reflection and looked again. When had his hair gotten so gray? He turned his face first one way, then the other. Even though styles had changed in the last ten years, Sarah preferred him to keep his hair a little on the long side so she could play with the dark curls. Since he loved the sensual softness of her shoulder-length locks, he complied with her desires on this.

What are you looking at? Will stood at the door of the shop, pausing as Phillip didn’t follow.

Phillip dropped his eyes to the pewter chess set on display. Monsters and grotesque beings formed one team; humans formed the other with a wizard in place of the king. A beautiful maiden played the role of queen. Just um…looking at the price of this set.

Really? I didn’t think you’d go for that sort of thing. Pictured you more of a classic sort of guy. Will came back over to take a second look at the window display.

Phillip gave a furtive glance at his reflection as his friend peered through the window. At least he still had all his hair, even if it was moving past the halfway point in color. Will’s hairline had been receding for some time now and John, another friend of theirs, had given up and gone to shaving his head completely bald rather than deal with the tiny bit that remained.

Come on, let’s hope they have more…specialized…stuff on sale inside. Phillip took a last look at his reflection, then clapped Will on the shoulder and opened the door for his friend, satisfied he didn’t look too old.

The interior didn’t give him much more hope. While Phillip had nothing against roleplaying games, he and Sarah didn’t partake of the fantasy genre’s fascination with elves, dwarves and other assorted creatures of myth and legend. No, give him a good whip and he wouldn’t use it as a decorative prop. He knew exactly how to place the tip against the skin so that it brought a woman to orgasm at her will.

    Phillip. Over here.

Will cocked his head at him and Phillip followed to a counter in the back corner. A locked case displayed several specialty items, including a set of pointed metal finger gauntlets that showed promise. Those tips could do damage—or provoke an orgasm if used right.

How may I help you two gentlemen?

Phillip looked at the salesman, a rather plump young man with his long hair tied back in a ponytail. Give him a few years and he’d make a good Falstaff, Phillip thought as Will spoke up.

My friend here is searching for an anniversary present for his slave-wife.

Phillip turned to his friend as if he’d lost his mind. Really? You’re going to spill our secrets to a stranger?

The young man nodded as if he were a great sage and the two of them eager learners come to find wisdom. Are you looking for something of metal working? Or would you prefer something of leather? He slid aside the curtain behind him to reveal a display of floggers, whips and cuffs, all neatly hanging on a bright-red velvet background.

Phillip smiled. A lesser man might’ve backed away from the glint in his eye, but the shop worker seemed to recognize a kindred spirit. Your slave-wife, she likes leather? Perhaps something a little more…binding?

He gestured to his right. A large, antique wardrobe sat a few feet away, its back to the rear wall of the store. The clerk produced a key and unlocked it, throwing open the doors to reveal a variety of hoods, masks, ball gags and harnesses.

I see we’ve come to the right place, murmured Will, eyeing one of the more restrictive hood and mask sets.

But Phillip didn’t see anything unique. Anything that would set Sarah apart from every other slave. He shook his head and the young man narrowed his eyes.

Perhaps you want something more in the way of body jewelry?

    Perhaps.

Again the clerk nodded, the wise look back in his eye. That would be over here. We do not do piercings here, but we do have adornments for those already modified.

Because all the stores in the plaza had to be family friendly, this case hid its contents just as the wall had. Sliding the black cloth to the side and lifting up a plywood board that protected the glass, the clerk showed them the jewelry the casual customer wouldn’t get to see.

I like the opals. Don’t see those every day. Will pointed to a set of tight nipple rings, each adorned with a small stone that would press against the nipple. That’s a different set-up, too. Mostly the rings hang down.

    Who is the artist?

For the first time, the young man looked uncomfortable. We get our merchandise from a variety of sources, Sir.

Phillip only raised an eyebrow. That much is obvious. The leather pieces are all available online. These, however, he indicated the body-modification jewelry in the case, are not. He pointed to the opal rings Will liked. I know handcrafted when I see it. That design is original and Uncle Irv would’ve loved to show it in his shop.

The man’s face lit up. "You mean Irving Anberg who had
