Introduction- About Wuhan
In recent months, the city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province has been on the receiving end of a horrendous outbreak well documented throughout the world. Hopefully the worst is now over and the city can slowly return to normal.
Having lived and worked in Wuhan from 2014 until the summer of 2019, I know the city quite well, it is a modern city full of some historic sites that attract Chinese tourists and some from overseas. The capital city of Hubei Province in central China, Wuhan the largest city in that region of China and a major transportation hub for road, rail and air travel.
Before we begin with the attractions to the city of Wuhan, here's some facts to share about the climate, local food, places to stay and of course, the famous Yangtze River.
When is the Best Time to Come to Wuhan?
Summers in Wuhan are hot and oppressive, Wuhan, renowned as one of the ‘Four Furnace Cities’ in China is famed for its summer heat and humidity with temperatures often reaching 40C. Summer is also the time of the year that Wuhan receives the majority of its annual rainfall. The winters are cold with extremely little snow, most years. The best months to visit Wuhan are the spring months of March through to May when it is colourful with flowers in blossom and comfortable temperatures making it a pleasant time to walk in the city parks. The autumn (or fall) months of September through to November are also a suitable time to visit with cooler temperatures after the summer heat.
