Description

After visiting Vientiane in Laos a few years before for an enjoyable experience, it was time to take a trip to Luang Prabang, where the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers meet. Historically, it was the Royal Capital of the country until 1975 and it's know for many Buddhist temples. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1995 for its well preserve architecture.I found the place to be very enjoyable and it gave me a feeling of being "off-the-beaten-path".Walking or biking, there is much to see and do, with luxury high-end and budget accommodation available.I stayed in the city center and enjoyed relaxed atmosphere. There is noticeable lack of vehicles and people compared to most places you would have visited, which is part of its beauty.I even had afternoon tea at a café, which overlooked the meeting point of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. Then I left town to go the chaotic city of Bangkok. http://www.malcolmteasdale.com
