    PROLOGUE

    The only thing I remember from my previous life, are the moments of real terror before my arrival. It is frankly simple and disconcerting to remember them so easily. But perhaps emphasizing them, I managed to recover my identity and find a way to leave this place. When I close my eyes, I return again to that moment:

    It has grown dark and I am still lost. The peaceful day has become a horrible nightmare through a bleak forest, looking more and more spooky. The flashlight stopped working minutes after observing a worrying wound on my side. I wouldn’t know how to calculate the exact time I’ve been running aimlessly through the brush. Tearing my face with the branch. The pain will not stop me, because the fear that grips my heart overcomes it.

    Tiredness is already making a dent in my punished body. But I feel as if an invisible force is insufflating the energy that I am gradually losing. It is curious, despite the poor visibility and my lack of attention to the steep and slippery terrain, I have not yet fallen flat on my face. Something that would be fatal given my circumstances.

    It’s time to stop for a few moments to catch my breath... I feel my wound and the humidity in my fingers, I feel that it has not stopped bleeding. Time is short.

    Behind me, I hear the creaking of the roots that
