Fuck! Look at what you made me do, I heard Lawrence bitching.

As much as I wanted to say something, it was all too much; the loud ringing in my ears, the blood all over my hands, and Selen was limp against me. No, no, no, no, I cried out.

Selen had gotten hit right in the fucking spine, and I felt like shit. Since everything I had gone through and all the shit that I had been through, I had been much more outspoken. I wasn't reckless, but I also wasn't about to hold my tongue for anyone, and this time I had wished like hell that I had kept my mouth closed. Maybe shit would've went just a little bit differently if I had. That bullet had been meant for me, and Selen had taken it like it was nothing. Just stepped right into the line of fire quicker than I could think. The crazy part was, for as long as I could remember, that was how she has been. From the moment that her and Omari grew close, she had loved my family like it was her own and was willing to protect us like we was her own, and that obviously hadn't changed in the slightest. I had my hand pressed firmly into her lower back to stop the blood from running so fast, but it was coating my hand, and I was scared that I wasn't going to be able to do anything for her. I knew it would kill Omari if anything happened to her. Like actually kill him. They had just gotten back on track, and it was like there was always something waiting to fuck that shit up.

I almost let go of Selen to go get him, but I stopped short and felt tears rising. At that moment, I was so fucking torn. If I let go, I knew without a doubt that Selen would die in this street. But if I didn't, then what? Just that quick my mind snapped to every moment I had ever had with my nephew. I was just as paranoid as my big brother, and the second they told me about Lawrence, I was on it to teach him whatever would keep him alive and bring him home to us if something like this happened.
