About this ebook

In Defense of God is my ideas about whether or not God exists, Who or What God might be and Who or What Satan might be. It is an attempt to discover what Heaven and Hell might be also. It discusses the concept of Reincarnation, problems I have with different Old Testament stories, and what I believe they really mean and contradictions between Canon Law and that which we have always been taught about God. Finally it discusses the idea that there could also be a God called Fate that has planned out our life to the last second and another God called Chaos Whose function is to disrupt Fate’s plans.

In Defense of God is more of a book of questions than answers. The reason is because no one has the answers and no one is an expert on God. I have spent a lot of the last fifty years, and in some cases longer, thinking about these things and while I have answers to many of the questions posed, I may never discover if those answers are correct, not even in death. Some of the ideas and questions have only developed in the last year or two.

The purpose of this book is not to answer all the questions or convert you to my beliefs, but to make you think. On many questions I have thought outside the box to come up with answers. We have been taught to accept the answers that others have proposed hundreds and even thousands of years ago. Religion does not want us to think for ourselves, but to blindly accept their ideas. I do not want you to blindly accept my ideas, I just want you to think about God, an All-Knowing, All-Loving, All-Forgiving, All-Merciful and Perfect Being in a different light. If you are willing to do that, then this is the book for you.

In Defense of God - Rich Olsen

    Introduction

Before we get started I need to tell you what you are about to read. It is not a book of science, although I do bring science into it. It is not a book about theology, but I do bring theology into it as well. What this book is……... me rambling, or at least some of you might feel that way. Some of the theories of God, Satan, Heaven, Hell and Reincarnation are not to be taken as fact, science cannot prove these to be true. Instead it is a different way to look at Who or What God, Satan, Heaven, Hell and Reincarnation might or might not be. I will try not to influence you toward my way of thinking, but to be honest, I will probably fail. After all, I am the one writing this book, therefore you are reading my opinions, even if I argue both sides of the issue. I do this, because as in a court of law, we must argue the case to try and get at the truth, so I have become the prosecutor and the defense attorney.

We do not live in a vacuum and I do not write in a vacuum. I must think about what I am writing, even when I am trying to mislead you, argue both sides, or just trying to get you to think about the subject. That means I must consider what I say and how the argument fits or does not fit the side I am presenting.

The reason I do this is to get you, the reader, to form your own opinion. It is not my goal, or my wish, to have you say, well if Rich Olsen says this is true, it must be true. I want you to read this, decide what you think is true, but have a basis for that belief, not because I said this, your church said it, or some celebrity believes something. What I or anyone else believes is not important, only what you believe. However, too many of us have accepted what we were taught and never asked why. I have asked why, and while I don’t have all the answers, in fact I may not have any of the answers, I am still arrogant enough to put in writing what I believe (even when I am arguing both sides of the issue).

When I discuss the case against and the case for God, I will try to be as impartial as……. humanly possible. I am sure that if you do not believe in God, I will offend you when I defend the concept of God. When I present the case against God existing, I am sure I will offend people of religion. I would say I am sorry, but I am not sorry. If I was sorry, why did I write those offensive things? I may be the prosecutor and the defense attorney, but you, the reader, are the jury, and as in all jury trials, someone is going to be offended and angry by the evidence and someone else is going to be pleased, but we all must think about what we heard (read). Also, like in a jury trial, the case against God will probably anger those that are believers and the case for God will anger those that do not believe.

As will become evident, I was raised Catholic and spent twelve years attending Catholic school. I had considered becoming a priest until I went through puberty. Puberty and a co-educational high school made me decide I didn’t want to be a priest (celibate). Personally, I don’t think I would have made a good priest, my ideas are too radical, or at least that is my opinion.

My last IQ test put me at the low end of genius. I say this not to brag, but to show you that I have a certain degree of intelligence, however, my mind might work differently than yours……. Then again, it may not and I’m just being arrogant thinking I’m different……. special. I believe I can think outside the box better than most, but I am sure others can think outside the box better than me. I have spent a good part of my life trying to figure Who and/or What God is and if Satan does or does not exist. If Satan exists, why does He exist? What is Heaven like and why would Hell exist?

I have also attempted to understand the concept of infinity. In the section on infinity, I will discuss that. In my opinion, most people have no concept of infinity. I also have been arrogant enough to think I can understand things that I was told in school that mere mortals can never understand. For most of them I have a logical…….maybe not completely logical, explanation for them. These are things such as God always was, and God always will be, how can there be three persons in one God, the virgin birth, although thanks to science that is a no-brainer, and other mysteries."

I will talk about the Bible and that is sure to offend a lot of people. The Bible is a very unscientific book, and, in my opinion, just a written record of oral stories handed down from generation to generation by the Israelites until someone decided to write them down in one place (the Bible). Even the New Testament is a collection of stories and letters written sometime after the death of Jesus. Jesus Christ did live, he is a historical figure, he is mentioned by the Roman historian Josephus.¹

This book is not a defense or argument against the Christian religion, but the idea, concept and existence of God. It has been said that if God did not exist, man would have created Him. That may be the case. Per Wikipedia, as many as thirteen percent of the people worldwide are atheists, and twenty-two percent of the people are without a religion.² Also, per Wikipedia, in 2012 Irreligion,³which they define as those that do not believe in any religion, reject religion, are hostile toward organized religions or do not believe in God, is fifteen percent. Wikipedia list Hinduism as the fourth largest religion at 13.95 percent followed by Buddhism at 5.25 percent.⁴ Therefore, it could be stated that atheism is the fifth largest religion if you take only those claiming to be atheists or the third largest religion if you include atheism as part of Irreligion.

As I stated, it is not my goal to make believers out of atheists, or atheists out of those that are believers. I have never liked missionaries, those people of faith that go out and attempt to convert others from what the missionaries believe are pagans and savages to the missionaries’ way of thinking. Too often, when the missionaries have converted non-believers, the non-believers are forced to look upon their way of life as wrong and …….pagan. We are all pagans and non-believers to those in different religions. Even within the Christian religions, one sect looks upon another as pagan since they do not believe what their sect believes. Growing up in the Catholic Church, we believed the other Christians were wrong for not believing what the Catholics believe. We have become arrogant and think our own personal religion is the true religion and if you don’t believe what I do, you’re a pagan and going to Hell. To them I say, live and let live.

Due to the nature of this book and the topics covered, some topics will be included in different parts because the topics overlap. I want to apologize in advance for repeating certain topics, but as I said, they overlap, and I believe it is important to include the topic in the parts that cover that topic and not tell you to go back to where it was first covered and re-read it. I feel that it is more important to repeat the information than to assume you remember it from a different topic. This is especially true if you pick and choose the topics…….chapters you wish to read instead of starting at the beginning and reading to the end.

One thing about any websites referenced or quoted in this book. I found them online at the time I was writing this. Whether they exist or can be found when you read this, I have no idea. The web is not like the library. When I was growing up, if I wanted to research this, I could go to the library and find a book, reference or non-fiction and quote the book, author and page number in the endnotes. You could go to a library and if they had that book, you could look up the quote to see if I lied. Who knows what the future of the web will be in a year, five, ten, twenty or a hundred years. Who knows if libraries will exist in the future in this information age, or perhaps it is libraries that will exist, and the internet will not. So, if you try and find the quote from the website I quoted, and it is not there, well, as I said, it existed when I wrote this. Webpages and websites come and go, unlike books, websites exist only in cyberspace.

That being said, I am sure by the end of this book it will be evident what I believe. This is not meant to be a case for my belief, but just…….me rambling, sitting around the fire and talking about religion, if I’ve offended you, I’m sorry, but like I said, I’m going to offend some of you. Hopefully I will give you something to think about. I hope you enjoy this and it makes you think. It has made me think for more years than I want to admit. If it does make you think, I have accomplished the purpose of this book. Thank you for allowing me to take up your time and hopefully making you think about what you believe and not just believe it because someone told you to.

A matter on the endnotes. They are endnotes not footnotes because this book was designed to be read by an online device, phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, notebook or something that hasn’t been invented yet. As a result, the page numbers on my desktop and monitor are not the same as on other devices. Therefore, chapters do not start at the beginning of a page, because I do not know where a page will begin on your device. As a result, they are not footnotes at the bottom of the page, but endnotes at the end of the book.

At the time of this writing, all endnote links are live. When I put an endnote website into the book, I could click on the endnote and I could go to that site, but as I said, the nature of the internet is such that the website may not exist anymore.

Most of the endnoted websites came from me Googling in a question. I picked one out of the top ten that appeared to answer the question I had asked. I usually did not read the other nine on the page, or go beyond the first ten sites, so one site may have contradicted the site I quoted, and I did not read that, or care. Obviously in the case against the existence of God, I’m not going to quote sites that prove God exists, that is for Part Two.

Also, while writing this book, I learned that if I quote a site word for word it should be in quotation marks. I did not know that when I started, I thought all I needed to do was put in an endnote so you could see I was attributing the matter to someone else. I shall try and rectify that in the different readings, re-readings and revisions before you are reading this. This book is not an attempt to plagiarize anyone else’s work, but I do use the material that other experts and so-called experts have written and published online. I was not aware I needed quotation marks for material I quoted directly. Please do not think I am trying to suggest endnoted material was my original thoughts. In many cases I am quoting someone else and then commenting on it.

I did say so-called experts because that is what some of us are. By the very nature of me publishing this book, especially as an online book, others may quote it and quote me as an expert, I am not an expert, but to some, since this is online, or a book, I must be an expert.

One final thought on endnotes. As you will see many of the sites I quote are from Wikipedia. Many people think it is not a legitimate source for material like this because others can edit what is on the webpage. That is true, but I believe that is mostly the case when dealing with bios of current people. I doubt people are going into Wikipedia and changing the figures on World Religions, Bible passages, information on the Big Bang or the Adamic Curse. Wikipedia is highly endnoted and they list the sources their information comes from. If I quote a paragraph from Wikipedia, and that paragraph originally included one or more endnotes, I do not include them in my endnotes. You can click on the link in the endnotes, or in some cases the text, and go there and check their endnotes. Personally, I trusted their endnotes, but that’s just me……or maybe I’m just lazy. I hope you enjoy this book, I enjoyed writing it, getting my thoughts on……paper.

    Part One

The Case Against the Existence of God

    Chapter Two

    World Religions Part One

It is much easier to prove that God does not exist then to prove He does, so I decided to start easy and get harder. Name one person that you know who has talked to or seen God. I do not mean seen God in nature, or in any abstract object, but someone who has actually seen God. I know of no one; I know of no person alive today that has seen or talked to God. So, the question begs, why has God not made His presence known? Why is God a recluse? God wants, and per the Catholic Religion, demands we worship Him. Catholics must go to church every Sunday because God demands it. If God demands we worship Him, why is he a recluse? Howard Hughes was a recluse that no one saw, so how did anyone know if he was alive or dead? If you went to his house to talk with Mister Hughes and someone said to ask him whatever you want, he hears you, would you believe it? If you did believe it and were told Mister Hughes would get back to you with the answer and you never heard from him again, wouldn’t you assume that Howard Hughes was dead, or did not care enough about you to answer your question? We go to God’s house all the time and ask things of God, but does He answer? Does that mean He does not exist, or does not care enough about us to answer?

In college, I had a friend that made up a student. They created him and got an advisor for his graduation. They made up classes and this non-existent student would have graduated from college, all that was required was for his advisor to sign the form. His advisor, a professor with a Ph. D, one that I admired, was going to sign the non-existent student’s graduation form even though he had never met the student. At the last minute, my friend told everyone about the prank, but what if he did not?

It was Voltaire that said, if God did not exist it would be necessary to invent Him.⁵ If Voltaire was right, how will we know if God does indeed exist or we created Him because we need a Supreme Being, an Entity that represents everything we strive to be, all loving, all good and perfection?

Marilyn Adamson, in an article written for www.Everystudent.com, claims there are five major religions. Hindus, that believe in a multitude of gods and goddesses, but only one ultimate Being of Oneness that they call Brahman. The Buddhists believe in no god at all but reincarnation and karma. The goal is to free themselves from the laws of karma.

New Age Religious followers believe they are God, Muslims believe in a powerful but unknowable God and Christians believe in a God that is loving and approachable. Ms Adamson does not mention Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit, or the fact that Christians also believe in salvation through following the teachings and examples of Jesus.

So, two of the five major religions that Ms Adamson mentioned believe in no Supreme Being. One believes in a Supreme Being that is reached through Reincarnation where you become one with God, and two believe in the same God. If we add in Judaism, we have three religions that believe in the same God, and if we add Hinduism to that group, we have four world religions that believe in the same Supreme Being. However, they are not the same God.

Hinduism believes in Reincarnation and becoming One with God. Along the way, there are a vast number of gods and goddesses. Judaism believes in a vengeful God, Christians believe in Three Gods in one Supreme Being and Muslims believe in a God that encourages His followers to die for Him and their religion and kill non-believers to promote Worldwide Islam. In the five major religions, plus Judaism, four believe in the same God but in each religion that God is different and has different values.

When typing how many religions exist today, into Google, the first thing that came up estimated there are about 4,200 religions worldwide. These are not all separate religions and beliefs, some are part of a larger religion, such as Christianity. One listing on Wikipedia has three hundred and thirty-two different Christian Churches and it is not a complete list.⁶ Other religions are also divided into different sects. The Christian Church, which includes the Catholic and Orthodox Churches have more than 332 different divisions and they cannot decide on what they believe when it comes to God and Jesus. Everyone has a slightly different belief. Therefore, how can man decide if God exists when the major and minor religions cannot decide within their ranks what they do and do not believe about God.

I could not find a number to represent the gods that have been worshiped in recorded human history. One person asked Yahoo that question and one of the answers said there were a million just in India. Another person said the Roman Empire included around 40,000 gods.⁷ Another website put the total number of Hindu gods as high as 320 million.⁸

So, what does this tell us? It tells us, or at least tells me, that over the years the different people of Earth have worshiped a lot of different gods, from Osiris and the 119 other Egyptian gods, to Zeus and 28 other Greek gods to Jupiter and 15 or more Roman gods, Thor and 24 other Germanic gods and hundreds more from too many different countries to list in this book.⁹ Where are these gods today? The people of ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Germany and every other country believed those gods existed, just like we believe Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost exist. Are the ancient gods dead or did they never exist, and the ancient people created them, as Voltaire stated?

Part of the problem with the gods of the past was a lack of understanding of science. The Egyptians had a Sun God because they did not realize the sun was a star that rotated around the Milky Way. They believed the sun rotated around the Earth and the Earth was the center of the universe. Today, science has taught us that the Earth is part of a minor star system in a minor corner of the Milky Way, a minor galaxy in what may well be a minor universe.

The more science teaches us and discovers, the less religious the mysteries of religion become. We have explanations for the miracles of Jesus Christ. Today we can explain things that only religion and God could explain in the past. What was once the providence of the gods is explained today by science. In two thousand years, if we have not killed ourselves off, will Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost be on the same list as Osiris, Zeus, Jupiter, Thor and the millions of gods of the past? Many people think that is the case, in fact, as I stated in the Introduction, as many as 13 percent of the world’s population think God does not exist and atheism is the fastest growing religion.¹⁰ Have I convinced you that God does not exist, or are you still a believer, a person of faith? Read on.

    Chapter Three

    Evolution

Yes, you read the chapter heading correctly, it is time to discuss the bane of the Religious Right, Evolution! When someone gets into a heated discussion with you, trying to convince you God does not exist, he or she always brings up Evolution. Evolution directly contradicts Creationism, and Creationism is the first book of the Bible. The bible is God’s (Yahweh) word to man. The Bible is just mere humans that put God’s words to print, as we have all been taught. The Bible is the Holy Book, Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species is the work of the Devil, just ask anyone from the Religious Right. I promised I would offend some of you, if the idea of Evolution offends you…….well I did say it would happen and I am not sorry. If you are offended, get over it, we are going to discuss it anyway.

The Bible, which Christian fanatics believe means, according to God, we went from nothingness to the finished creation in six days. Whether or not we are talking six twenty-four hour days, or six periods of undetermined length is questionable even among the true believers. We are not going into what I believe are contradictions in Genesis and the story of Creation at this time, that comes later. Instead, I will say that on the Third day, God created all the plants of the Earth. On the Fifth Day, He created the fish, birds and animals and on the Sixth Day, He created man. It does not say when He created things like insects, was that after Original Sin, but many of those insects, bacteria and other non-animals are beneficial for mankind.

John D Morris, Ph. D states the Earth is about six thousand years old. He writes, "Scripture teaches a young earth, and the time has come for Christians to stop twisting Scripture to fit the evolutionary and uniformitarian speculations of some scientists about the unobserved past……¹¹ Bishop Ussher, a Protestant Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland stated the exact time when Creation began, based on the Bible. He stated, the entrance of the night proceeding the twenty-third day of October, the year before Christ, four thousand four (BC), that is, around six pm on the twenty-second of October. four thousand four BC, according to the proleptic Julian calendar. Ussher lived from 1581-1656.¹²

Therefore, according to the Bible…….and Doctor Morris Ph. D, the Earth is six thousand years old, but according to Fraser Cain and most other scientists, the Earth is four point five four billion years old. This measurement comes from radiometric dating which provides an accurate method to tell us the real age of the Earth. Also, by measuring the half-lives of radioactive isotopes, geologists have been able to create a measurement ladder that let them accurately calculate the age of the Earth. the half-life of uranium-238 alone is four point four seven billion years.¹³

The universe itself is thirteen point eight billion years old. According to www.Space.com how did scientists determine how many candles to put on the universe’s birthday cake? They can determine the age of the universe using two different methods," by studying the oldest objects within the universe and measuring how fast it (the universe) is expanding.¹⁴

To state the obvious, science disagrees with the Bible, or at least two different interpreters of the Bible. To be honest, Bishop Ussher lived more than three hundred sixty years ago. It was not until 1841 or 1842 that Richard Owen first realized that dinosaurs roamed the Earth.¹⁵ A Triassic-Jurassic extinction event 200 million years ago brought about the end of the dinosaurs as they existed on Earth at the time.¹⁶ (More later in this chapter.) There was no carbon dating or other scientific methods to accurately date items, so Bishop Ussher had no way of knowing these things. However, Doctor Morris had access to all these facts, but he has chosen to eliminate or ignore all scientific data and base everything on the Bible, which is his right.

Who is right, Doctor Morris and Bishop Ussher, or modern-day scientists? That answer depends on who you listen to and whether you believe that the Bible was written by God through man, and therefore fact, or whether you believe the word of scientists and their facts. If you believe that God does not exist, the choice is easy, you believe in scientific facts. If you believe God does exist, you have a problem. Although there are websites that point out God and science do not conflict, but are in agreement, even about the scientific age of the Earth and the universe.

Creationism says God took six days to create the universe. He spent one day creating plants, and one day to create all the animals of the Earth and sea. He created humans, men and women on the Sixth Day and then He rested. God rested on the Seventh Day and has been resting ever since He finished Creation on the Sixth Day. Since God is All Knowing and Perfect and cannot make a mistake He had no reason to continue Creation. So, a little over six thousand years ago, God finished Creation, having no reason to continue or tweak what He had……created.

Evolution, on the other hand, began three point eight billion years ago. Life began initially with single-celled prokaryotic cells such as bacteria. Multicellular life evolved over a billion years later and it is only in the last 570 million years that the kind of life forms we are familiar with began to evolve, starting with arthropods. Fish evolved 530 million years ago, land plants 475 million years ago and forests 385 million years ago. Large mammals did not evolve until two million years ago and the first of the Homo sapiens did not appear until 200 thousand years ago, that is only .004 percent of Earth’s history.¹⁷

Creationists claim that the Earth is only six thousand years old, and except for the first five days, man has always existed. Man and dinosaurs existed together about six thousand years ago.¹⁸ Evolution says that the first humanoid appeared 200 thousand years ago, after evolution had been ongoing almost 3.799 million years.

Again, what you believe depends on whether you believe that God wrote the Bible or that proven scientific facts contradict the Bible. Whichever side you believe, one scientific fact you cannot ignore is that evolution is still going on today. Unlike Creation that God claimed to stop after six days, evolution is continuing to this day, it has never stopped.

On the website www.Listverse.com, (see endnote 19 for link) it gives eight examples of evolution in action. The peppered moth came in two shades, a mottled colored moth and a uniform dark variant. The mottled colored moth stood the best chance of surviving before the Industrial Revolution. Before that, the dark moth was only two percent of all peppered moths. After the Industrial Revolution, the dark moth made up ninety-five percent of the peppered moth population. The best explanation is the mottled colored peppered moth lost its advantage of camouflage as light surfaces darkened by pollution and were eaten while the dark ones were not.

The Three-toed Skinks changed laying eggs and went to live birth. The skinks born in eggs have an extra source of calcium that the live born do not. Thus, the mother made up for this calcium by secreting extra calcium for the young developing inside her. This appears to be the first step toward a mammalian placenta. The skinks that live along the coast lay eggs because the temperatures are warmer. The skinks in the mountains have live birth because their mothers can control the temperature inside their bodies. In time, these two creatures will go their separate ways and become two different species.

The Asian shore crabs are an invasive species in the New England area. They feed on mussels. It has recently been observed that mussels, when they detect the Asian shore crabs, develop thicker shells to stop the crabs from eating them.

In 1971 ten Italian Wall Lizards were introduced to the island of Pod Mrćaru from a neighboring island. The lizards were left for decades and compared to the colony from which they were taken. The Wall Lizards on Pod Mrćaru, having passed through a tiny genetic bottleneck, were found to have thrived and adapted to their new island. They shifted from a mostly insectivorous diet to one heavy in vegetation. The diet change seems to have driven dramatic changes in the lizards. Their heads are larger and have a far greater bite force than the ones on the island they came from. This change is keyed to adaptations for dealing with chewing leaves. The most exciting sign of evolution is the development of cercal valves, muscles used to separate portions of the intestine. These serve to slow the passage of food through the intestine and give time for the bacteria in the gut to breakdown the plant matter for absorption. This is an entirely novel development in the Italian Wall Lizard and a major adaption (evolution). Also, stated in the article are changes to the Cane Toad, Darwin’s Finches, Butterflies and Parasites.¹⁹

All the adaptations listed above are evolution at work. This is not the work of God, He stopped creation on the Seventh Day. This is the ongoing work of evolution. If God exists, why didn’t he make these changes? Didn’t God know that man and the Industrial Revolution would pollute trees and other objects, making the mottled peppered moth easy prey? Didn’t He know at some point Asian shore crabs would come to New England? Why did God not give the mussels a thicker shell to begin with, why did evolution have to create it? If God exists, or is still alive, why did he stop the act of creation on the Seventh Day? Why did evolution need to take over from God if God existed?

If the Bible is the word of God, why did the first human evolve almost 200 thousand years before the Bible says God created man?

If you do not believe evolution is real, look at bacteria and viruses. At one-time antibiotics killed all bacterial infections. You got an infection; you took antibiotics and the infection was cured. Today, we have antibiotic immune bacteria, bacteria that have evolved to the point that antibiotics do not work on them. Evolution works slowly, over millions and billions of years, but with things like bacteria and viruses, things that reproduce quickly, we see evolution working faster. The drug resistance strain of bacteria is not killed by the antibiotics, so they survive when the bacteria that is not resistant dies off. As a result, survival of the fittest kicks in. a bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics reproduces faster and in time replaces the one that is killed by antibiotics. It is evolution at work.

Those that believe in Creationism and God might say that God tweaked the peppered moths, so the dark ones became dominant when the mottled ones were being eaten. They may also say that it is not evolution, but nature, more mottled moths were eaten while the dark variety were not, so they could reproduce more……that’s nature. Yes, that is nature and we have a name for that, Evolution.

If Evolution is not a scientific fact, and God created everything, then what about drug resistant bacteria? When did God create them? If He created them six thousand years ago, why did they remain dormant for six thousand years? Did God just create drug resistant bacteria in the last twenty or thirty years? If so, why would an All Loving God, our Father, create a bacteria whose only purpose is to make us sick and in some instances, kill us? The answer seems obvious, God does not exist, Creationism is not the law of the land, Evolution is.

Do you want more proof that we are the product of Evolution and not God and Creationism, then look at us, and our bodies. If God is All Knowing, why did he create these bodies with all their faults? Women live to be eighty, ninety and longer, but they go into menopause around fifty. Many women lose their sexual desire during and after menopause, while men continue to enjoy sex and engage in it all their lives.

Why did God not give us stronger bones, or an exoskeleton to protect us better? Why or when did God create us in different skin colors? One constant source of bigotry and discrimination among humans is race……skin color. If God created humans on the Sixth Day, why are we not all one color today? Yes, I remember that Biblical scholars suggest that Negros are descended from Cain as a way to punish his descendants, but is that what God did, or is it Whites trying to show that God loves us more? I also remember the story of the Tower of Babel, but who did God punish with that, and why punish all of mankind, but that is for other chapters.

The human body is not the product of an All Knowing, All Loving God, but a product of Evolution. Many animals are faster, bigger, have better sense of smell, hearing, can see in the dark better, and can go longer without food. Some animals are better equipped to handle the cold, or the heat. Birds can fly and evade predators and get to different places easier. Fish have the ability to obtain oxygen from water, we drown if we try to breathe under water. Some animals have a longer life span than we do. Our main advantage over animals and insects is our brain and our opposable thumbs. We can think, and we have learned to use tools. This is not an example of Creationism, but Evolution, and even us humans are continuing to evolve. We are getting taller and living longer. That is not because of God, but nature, nature in the name of Evolution.

I said I would get back to dinosaurs and I am. I want to leave you with this. Archeologist have discovered dinosaur fossils that carbon dating say lived 65 million years ago. How can dinosaur fossils be 65 million years old if God created the Earth six thousand years ago? A very good friend of mine is a minister in a conservative Christian religion, one that would be considered in the Religious Right. We have argued this question. His answer. God created them six thousand years ago, but when He created them, he made them appear to carbon date to be 65 million years old. I did not realize God had such a sense of humor…… or that He broke one of His Commandments, Thou shall not lie. My friend will not admit that Evolution is possible, and the Earth is almost four billion years old, it goes against the teachings of the Bible. He is free to believe what he wants, even if all scientific evidence says he’s wrong.

    The Big Bang

It is time for the next theory……...scientific fact(?) that the Religious right hates, the Big Bang. It is another theory that proves God does not exist because it goes against Creationism, so it cannot be real, even if the scientific community claims it is. After all, if the Big Bang was true, God
