About this ebook
Tonight is Bryn Derwyn Academy’ holiday concert, and nothing dare go wrong. Ginger Barnes—headmaster’s wife and #1 volunteer—is painfully aware that bad publicity can kill a school’s reputation in a heartbeat. Which is exactly what happens when she discovers the academy’s attorney lying face down on the conference table, dead from a blow with the school’s ceremonial groundbreaking shovel.
Desperate to save the struggling young school—her family’s home and livelihood—Gin initiates her own investigation. Why not? Her questions will sound harmless—to everyone but the killer!
Will Gin’s amateur sleuthing succeed? Or will risking the wrath of a murderer prove to be the most dangerous thing she’s ever done? Writer's Digest Award Winning Author
Donna Huston Murray
Donna Huston Murray’s cozy mystery series features a woman much like herself, a DIY headmaster's wife with a troubling interest in crime. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was an okay cozy mystery. I liked the setting (a school) and the characters were okay traditional cozy characters. The storyline was a fun fluffy storyline (Only Gin Barnes can save the school...). The main downfall of the book was the ending that dragged on forever. Murray should have ended the story 4 chapters before she did. The murderer was revealed, but the story's not over, we need to drag it on as long as possible before all can be well again. I'd read another one in the series if I came across it, but I'm not going to actively seek them out.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5private-schools, amateur-sleuth, murder-investigation, cozy-mystery****The characters are very well done, the relationships to the environs and each other are clear, but I simply couldn't relate to anything but the sleuthing about the murder. I felt as if it is my fault because the author did such good work on the mystery/sleuthing. No attempt to recap the plot or indulge in spoilers here, it just wasn't my cuppa.I requested and received a free ebook copy from Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) via NetGalley.
