    Foreword

Deferred Divorce is the story that has brought me the most satisfaction. Surely, because of the difficult conditions which it was born. For ten frantic weeks I was hanging its chapters on social networks, in a kind of literary exercise, without any kind of network or notes about it. The story sprang up on its own like a runaway fountain.

The first chapter was published by The Marfil Magazine, on the Internet, as a story with an open ending. After receiving an email suggesting me to continue the story, I decided to do it online by publishing the continuation of a chapter every week. The success exceeded my expectations with more than three thousand faithful followers.

Currently, with the work published on several platforms, I’ve decided to continue the saga that you can find, very soon, accompanying this novel with the title Deferred Divorce II The dream of Berenice.

I take this opportunity to show my eternal gratitude to Pulp Stories, who personified in Maria Larralde and Elmer Ruddenskjrik, have been kind enough to design the cover that accompanies this work.

    Finally, thanks for reading!

    Chapter I

I was in the office waiting for the next appointment. It was a divorce case, so the secretary had told me. After that visit I would start the weekend, but not in the same way as I had planned.

A young woman, about thirty years old, came in, brunette and with a good guy. He wore a pretty elegant jacket suit to match the bag. It showed a certain level.

After lighting the cigarette, he looked at me with huge brown eyes and began to tell me his story.

Mr. Thomson, what I am going to tell you is strictly confidential and I would appreciate it if our conversation did not cross these walls. The story is quite unreal and I would not like anyone to take me crazy.

You can be calm; I will be a grave, I added. She heard the word grave shuddered. I really don't know why I said that stupidity, I wasn't professional on my part.

My parents want to divorce, she continued.

May I ask why they did not come themselves?

    Because they are dead.

At that moment, it was I who shivered trying to understand the scope of his words.

They died ten years ago in a car accident. My father drove the vehicle. After a party, when taking a curve, they collided with a truck coming in the opposite direction. They were buried together in the city cemetery, in the family pantheon.

I let her continue her story, without interrupting her, because I still didn't quite understand what she expected from me.

"A year ago, I met a medium who assured me that I could
