About this ebook
Ryan Siebol is wary of relationships. The man he loved for years, Andrew Morris, cheated on him, and Ryan isn't sure he could ever endure anything serious right now. Only casual will do. But Officer Paul Grayling has had his eye on his sad, sexy neighbor for months. He knows that Ryan's heart was broken, but when a chance to get together for a night of fun presents itself, he takes full advantage.
Their chemistry is surprising, and Ryan isn’t sure what to think about how well he and Paul hit it off. Ryan is still hesitant to pursue anything serious, but Paul isn't making it easy, and what they have together could turn into love. It doesn't help that Ryan's ex keeps popping up at the wrong time, asking to get back together again. In the end, though, Ryan and Paul have to decide what they truly want, no matter the obstacles that come their way.

CHAPTER ONE
Ryan
My day was officially fucked.
It had begun with my truck refusing to start, which meant I had to have it towed. Then, when I finally made it to the club, I had to fire one of the bartenders because I had found out he’d been dealing drugs on the premises. I would have to fill in until I found someone new. There was also a plumbing issue in one of the bathroom stalls. Oh, and my ex, Andrew Morris, kept texting about having a quickie. Nope, not happening.
I got grumpy when things went shit-side up, so I did paperwork in my office, then checked the stock of liquor in the basement so I wouldn’t snap someone’s head off unintentionally. I’d have to place an order soon. By the time the club opened that night, I was in a marginally better mood as I helped tend bar. The line at the door was long, people were buying drinks, and business was good. And then, my fucking ex showed up.
Hey, Ry,
Andrew said, his voice flirtatious and smooth as he leaned forward to kiss me on the lips, and yes, I remembered his taste. He still looked edible, his lithe frame covered in tight jeans and a snug white button-down shirt that emphasized a fit body. This man had once been my world, but not anymore. There were just some things I couldn’t forgive.
The answer is still ‘no,’ Andrew. No, I will not sleep with you.
I moved away to take care of the thirsty customers on the right-hand side of the bar while my other bartender, Brandon, took the left.
When I returned to where Andrew still stood, he was pouting. Is that anyway to treat a guy you said you loved, once?
I said those words before I found out how many guys you were sleeping with in my bed while I worked fourteen-hour days at the club.
I gave a customer a Heineken and took her cash.
He ran his fingers over my arm. I was lonely.
I moved away. Well, you took care of that quite well, didn’t you? You don’t need me anymore. You have lots of other guys to choose from, after all.
It still hurt that I had been so wrong about him, but I had moved on, for the most part. I ignored Andrew after that and he eventually disappeared, likely into a bathroom stall with a willing partner. He was a stubborn little shit, though, so he would probably keep on trying to get in my pants until I tossed him out. I had done it before.
At midnight, a popular local band played for the crowd, and almost everyone was focused on the stage, giving Brandon and me a breather. I sent him to get his break and I wiped down the bar, taking care of the few customers who weren’t writhing on the dance floor.
I had bought this club from the woman who’d owned it and wanted to retire in Mexico. It had been a seedy dive bar with barely any clientele. Over the years, I had changed it to the kind of place that anyone could enjoy and not feel unwelcome. I didn’t tolerate assholes, and anyone who worked for me knew the score. It had been a good ten years, and the only bad part of this whole experience had been Andrew, in the end.
When I had found out about the men who had been going in and out of our bedroom like it was some kind of goddamned brothel, I had been devastated. We had been together for four years and it had been perfect, I thought. We fucked like rabbits, and maybe that was where I went wrong, because it had all been about sex, though it was very good sex. Andrew’s body could bend in ways that almost made me leak, even now. But I couldn’t forgive his cheating.
While these thoughts were running around my head, Brandon came back and I went to check on the bouncers at the front door before walking toward the employee break room to grab a sandwich. Suddenly, my path was blocked. By Andrew.
Dance with me,
he said, attempting to drag me behind him toward the crowd. I dug in my heels and pulled away from his grasp.
Andrew, I meant what I said. You keep this up, I’m gonna start calling it harassment.
What’s the big deal, Ry? It’s just a dance. Don’t you remember how to have fun? What could it hurt?
Everything.
No. Get out of my club or I’ll have you thrown out. Again.
But Ry—
Enough.
