About this ebook
Carey Duncan has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.
James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus.
Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…
From the “hilariously zany and heartfelt” (Booklist) Christina Lauren comes a romantic comedy that proves if it’s broke, you might as well fix it.

Cute ROM com about two assistants who try to keep their bosses from killing each other on a book tour while slowly yet instantly falling for each other! I loved this novel! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was okay, but I barely liked it. I've read books from this duo, but this book is my least favorite.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book follows Carey and James Carey is the unacknowledged design genius behind home/design couple Melissa and Rusty's brand. She's gone from their small store to their tv show with them. James McCann is an engineer on the same team, but like Carey has become a glorified assistant.
While the Tripp's show and business is going well, there's trouble in paradise. The couple absolutely hate each other, and shit hits the fan right as they're going on tour for their book...about their marriage. Carey and James are tasked with keeping them together until the tour is over and their new show has aired. And through all the stress and chaos, a romance blooms between them.
This wasn't my favorite book from the Christina Lauren duo, but it was still good. Very much your standard lighthearted romance. I love books like this, which is probably why this is the third or fourth book I've read of theirs. I definitely recommend it if you like romance, a tiny bit of steam, and a quick read. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fun in a predictable way. The exact time of book you need to read when you are down or low. Cute and light-hearted!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As one long-married couple’s marriage begins to crumble, another couple finds themselves more than just attracted to each other. Carey has been working for the Tripps for a decade, designing and basically running their furniture business. Now they, along with the new hire, James, are on tour promoting the Tripp’s new book. And things are definitely going from bad to worse. This tale has a lot going for it, engaging characters, interesting plot, and a satisfying ending, but it didn’t quite hit the bull’s eye for me. Maybe more character development, especially with the Tripp’s, would have made it a better read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5My taste in romance books tends to run more toward historical romances, but this one sounded fun so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It was indeed fun - a story about two people thrown into a road trip who seem to be complete opposites. And of course, being opposites, they attract. But are they really as different at heart as they seem to be? And will they survive this road trip as personal assistants to two very difficult people who are in a marriage and partnership that just may be coming to an end? A good story about how things aren't always as they seem on the surface.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love it! But I knew that even before I started reading! I have been a big fan since Beautiful Bastard. Keep rockin' ladies!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I absolutely loved this book. It didn’t disappoint at all!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Title: The Honey-Don't ListAuthor: Christina LaurenPublisher: Gallery BooksReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: FourReview:"The Honey-Don't List" by Christina LaurenMy Speculation:What a rather exciting story this author gives us. We find this reality t.v. Couples Melissa and Rusty Tripp have their design show and are on tour with a new book out of 'their marriage and how they keep their love alive.' However, this is not true because these two are no longer in love with each other. So, what will happen next? Carey and James, who are employed assistances by the Tripps, are there to keep them in check. To see these two assistants, Carey and James, are now 'babysitting' Melissa and Rusty on this book tour trying to fight the bad press was quite interesting as they are trying to 'reign in their bosses and manage stressful situations.'Be ready for romance, comedy, some mystery, and yes, even heartfelt emotion coming out from this story. After recognizing the situation, we find Carey and James were stuck in what went from 'enemies to partners, working to keep the Tripps' from any public meltdowns.' I felt somewhat sad over Melly and Rusty's situation at times, especially Melissa, in the way she treated people! What a hot mess! The beautiful part of this story was watching James and Carey fall in love with each other ... from 'cute, sweet, lovely, tend even to the scorching sexy' stuff! Now, get ready to be entertained immensely by a read of some fun characters and chapters that will take you on quite a trip, or should I say 'disastrous book tour.'
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Honey-Don’t List by Christina LaurenRomantic comedy mildly. Contemporary romance. Written from the viewpoints of both the hero and heroine in alternating, titled chapters.Carey and James work as assistants to the Tripps. It’s up tp the two of them to manage the details of the famous couple in their public personas. I really liked Carey and was rooting for her throughout. She “made” the company with her designs and organizational work. I really hated that Melly took such advantage and stomped all over Carey. James was more a question. He’s trying to build up his resume and doesn't want to be just an assistant and he can’t afford to just walk away from his job. I would have liked a bit more background on his prior job or why he couldn’t just start over. He’s only 26. But moving on...the middle of the book was the best with the couple getting to know each other. James was good about noticing the little things and paying attention. In the end it was enjoyable but not as good as other books by this author. 3.5 rounding up to 4 because it’s still a lovely romance happily ever after.I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Carey Duncan has worked as Melissa Tripp's assistant for years, even though she does most of the design work for her and her husband Rusty on their interior design show on HGTV. Recently Rusty hired an MIT engineer cum assistant, James McCann. James is frustrated with the hole that he has been plugged into, and Carey is just trying to keep a lid on the fact that America's darling couple can't stand each other. As the Tripps are about to embark on a new show and an appearance tour for their new book, filled with tips on what makes a good marriage, Carey and James get closer, while they try to find a way to make a disastrous marriage look like sweethearts in love. The Honey-Don't List takes the current popularity of HGTV television shows and develops a story about the pressures of success and what that can do to a marriage. Unfortunately, Carey and James almost feel like supporting characters in a story that is supposed to be about them, but they aren't nearly as compelling as Melissa and Rusty Tripp, who steal the show with their wildly dramatic lifestyles and angst filled relationship. Also, James does something to Carey in this story that seems almost unforgivable and doesn't grovel nearly enough before being allowed back into Carey's life. Overall, The Honey-Don't List offers some enjoyable aspects but lacks enough in the execution to make it a winner.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Carey has worked for Melissa and Rusty Tripp since she was 16. During that time the couple has gone from running a home design and furniture store in Wyoming to becoming America's favourite home redesign couple. As Melissa and Rusty prepare to go on a promotional tour for their new book on marriage, Carey and Rusty's new assistant James get pulled into coming along to help keep a secret no one wants getting out, the supposedly happily married couple are anything but. While Carey and James try to keep their bosses in line, they also discover that there may just be a spark worth pursuing between the two of them.Another solid contemporary romance from Christina Lauren. I love how the co-authors create these characters who feel real, who have believable issues, and while the final conflict between the two leads is due to miscommunication (as it almost always is) - it's not one of those scenarios where you want to shout, "Just talk to each other!" at the book. Recommended for fans of contemporary romance.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Carey and James are personal assistants to HGTV superstar couple Melissa and Rusty Tripp--Carey's been working for Melissa for about a decade, since she was a teenager, but James is new, having been hired as an engineer but all but prohibited from doing any actual engineering work on the couple's show. When signs become extremely clear that the Tripps' marriage is breaking down, Carey and James are forced to cancel their own plans and accompany the pair on their book tour. Stuck in a tour bus with the very unlikeable couple, the two begin to spend more time together.I really liked both of the main characters--they were both really sweet and lovable. I was about to write that I especially loved James, since he's absolutely adorable, but Carey is also really relatable and is humanized really well. The overall book was... fine. Especially Melissa Tripp is very unlikeable, but I think that worked well; however, I felt like the book was pretty disjointed. It may have just been a consequence of how I read it, but I felt like tensions really weren't even throughout the book, and some things got resolved far more quickly than seemed natural. I will say that this is much less funny than e.g. The Unhoneymooners or Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. I didn't have a problem with that, but I think that that may be a bit of a surprise for some people.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Sweet okay read. Liked the medical issues
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Ooof. Nothing worse than watching a relationship train-wreck and not being able to leave! As much as I've been enjoying Christina Lauren's work, this one fell a little short for me. Maybe it was the aforementioned train-wreck plot. I don't know. The writing was on par, the HEA was great! There wasn't a lot of conflict with the 2, until a biggish secret is exposed, by a childish boss no less. Of course everything works out in the end (I don't think that's a spoiler in this type of book!) so I got what I wanted out of it! :)
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Carey is working as an assistant to Melissa Tripp. James is an assistant to Rusty Tripp. Melissa and Rusty are a powerful tv remodeling duo. These two have secrets and are slowly falling apart. Carey and James have their work cut out for them!I am a huge fan of this writing duo. However, this book is not my favorite. I think it is because I am not a fan of Melissa and Rusty Tripp. Melissa is a total “B” word and she mistreats everyone. Rusty is just there. He is a womanizer and a big ole flirt. But, he kind of felt like a minor character till the end.I also did not feel connected to Carey until about the middle of the book. That being said…it is still a pretty good read… just not their usual caliber of work…IN MY OPINION.This is a fast paced, cute story. It just fell short for me. But, you may want to give it a shot! It is entertaining and enjoyable.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Is this book life changing? No. Is it hilarious? Yes. I read and loved The Unhoneymooners so I knew I was in for a treat when I picked this up. So witty, fun, and breezy this is the perfect beach read. Carey has worked for the Tripps for a decade and all she wants is time to rest. They have a TV show, multiple books and are America's home renovating sweethearts. The facade is starting to crack though and Carey's job is to help Melissa Tripps keep it together. James is Rusty Tripp's "assistant" and he couldn't be more different from Carey. They are like oil and water. When they are both informed last minute that their vacation's are cancelled and they have to go on a week long book tour with the Tripps and keep them from screaming at each other public they find themselves unable to avoid each other. And maybe it's the stress, but there seems to be a bit of a spark. Cute, charming, and hilarious. I loved every page of this!
